I played the demo on xbox live. the graphics are crazy and the gameplay is very fluid. I'll give it a shot, I havent played ANY DMC games. God of War seems to be pretty well rounded, great graphics, great gameplay, and a great story. I'm hooked right now. The kills are CRAZY...very creative and innovative. Maybe I'll get tired of it, but I'm enjoying it right now. It's the reason I want to buy a PS3, which is why I'm looking for a 60GB or 80GB PS3. I just ordered God of War 1 and 2 for the PS2 and would like to play them on a PS3 with backward compatibility. If I can't find one by June, I'll have to buy the Metal Gear Bundle, and I'm not too fond of that series. Another reason I want a PS3 is because of Street Fighter IV. I can't stand fighting games on the 360! The fact that Blu Ray won the battle, my new interest in God of War, and Street Fighter IV's release has convinced me to buy a backward compatible PS3. Let me know if anyone knows where I can still find one
Well, I was referring specifically to DMC3 (not available on Xbox), which in my mind (and many others) is the superior game to DMC4 (the new one that you're talking about). The new one is good... just not as good as 3. I still find DMC4 superior to God of War though, so same difference I suppose. On a semi-related note: if crazy, brutal kills are your thing... check out Def Jam: Fight for New York. Not only is it easily the most brutally violent fighting game I've ever played, it also has EASILY the best story and has an incredibly innovative character creation mode.
I played the first one before and loved the concept. It got played out for me after a while, although I hear good things about Fight for NY. I'll give it a shot as well.
What?! 360 is the ONLY place you can play competitive street fighter on a console. Street Fighter Anniversary Edition (xbox1 game compatible) Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting (xbox arcade) And all the Shoryuken.com and competitive players are playing on it. Plus you'll have the SF2HD Remix and SF4 both coming out on 360. I'm not saying that these games will be worse on PS3, they'll probably be the exactly the same. but if you want a competitive base already there, its 360 hands down. if you hate the 360 cause of the controller for sf, then i understand your point, but the ps3 controller sucks too. 3rd party manufacturers need to come out with sweet stuff like they had for xbox1 and ps2. if you want to dreamshaked on sf2, look me up on xbox. clutchcity93
Nope. Edit: I looked up some Guilty Gear music on youtube (writhe in pain, holy orders, blue water blue sky, still in the dark) and to me they are far inferior to the halo theme. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M0mQk7JEVq4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M0mQk7JEVq4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
yeah it's the responsiveness that I don't like with the controls on xbox. I feel like it doesn't pick up some of what I press. It's almost as if I have to slow down so it'll register. I might see your dreamshake with a crowd pleasing Charles Jones basket in garbage time in the future.
i'll tell you how to improve this. 1. hyperfighter was written with bad net code, the sf2hd remix and probably sf4 should improve this so much that its lag free. 2. lay off the wireless networking. its fine for shooters but sux for fighting games. i went ethernet. 3. i got that hori vf5 stick. it'll get you by and its better than the xbox controller. 4. you'll look like david robinson vs my dream sf2 skillz
FFNY is a very different game from Vendetta. I didn't even like Vendetta that much. To me, the first one was a wresting game... FFNY is a FIGHTING game. A really good fighting game. Vendetta got old fast for me. FFNY hasn't gotten old in years. Only reason I don't play it as much anymore is because I'm tired of kicking everyone's asses so bad... waiting for a challenge. (come to think of it, that's the same problem I have with Capcom vs. SNK 2... and Tekken 5... hmmmm...)
No problem, I actually like discussing this kind of stuff. When we're done, we can start discussing the other 99% of the game, allowing both of us to gush over the game. BTW, sorry about not replying sooner. I got a little busy with some schoolwork. I guess I just tend to look at it from a design perspective. If you're going to put in the work to develop 40+ characters, try to make a large number of them useful (either in the story or in the gameplay...preferably both). When I'm looking at the party select screen, ignoring practically 35 of the characters or so (pretty sure I only stuck with 5-8 characters IIRC), it just seems like a big waste. Collecting them was fun, at least to a degree, but I just wanted a bit more of a "reward" than having them show up on the party select screen. Again, this is definitely nitpicking here. I don't disagree there. It isn't like I hated the game for doing this, but I just wished it was implemented better, especially since they went through all the effort of creating the characters. Yeah, it is certainly a change of pace, and it was more or less implemented pretty well. Just not quite my style. Guess it might have been better had it not been for the bug (I'll explain more about that later). I don't know what it is. I really like Yasunori Mitsuda's stuff, especially in Chrono Trigger and Xenogears. Spoiler I'm OK with parts of that, especially the fact that they were just meant to be together (I like that stuff too). I just wished that they either left everything up completely to the gamer (they can "decide" whether they were friends or more than just friends), or that they put some effort in developing their relationship if that's where they wanted things to go. Seemed like they stayed in the middle (sort of decided for us how the two felt toward each other, but didn't really give us much to base that all on). I also just didn't like Kid's personality, whether she was a strong character or not. As I said, seemed fine for a supporting character, but not as the leading female character. Maybe I just have something against female characters that aren't ladylike, going around threatening to kick someone's arse. And I still can't get over the whole Serge, Leena, Kid triangle. Of course, I just remembered that there are multiple endings to the game. I haven't seen them all, but I guess one (or more?) of them involve Serge and Leena staying together. I guess that sort of bails them out to a degree (you can decide who Serge has feelings for), although I'd still argue that things should have been handled a bit better. I was skimming over some things at Wikipedia and noticed that Serge and Kid were also together in Radical Dreamers, with Serge apparently showing more affection towards her. So I guess it makes sense that the developers wanted them to be together. Maybe it would have made more sense if I played that game. Basically, using elements in battles can cause the game to freeze, and this includes any elements that the enemies use as well. The likelihood of this happening varies from battle to battle (some areas are more likely than others). It was easy to get by this early on in the game, when using elements wasn't that important. But near the end of the game, I had to replay boss battles numerous times (didn't keep count, but it was a lot). The Jelly King boss battle (which required the use of elements) was particularly brutal, especially since the fight itself wasn't really tough. It only took a few turns to kill him, but the game always froze a turn or two before that. Seriously, I really had to enjoy the game to overcome these freezes. It was incredibly frustrating at times. If I had known this was going to be such a major issue before putting 30+ hours into the game, I probably would have played it on a PC emulator (nearly did that anyway, but I wanted to try out a PS1 game on the PS3). It may not have mattered as much, but this is where I would have liked to spend some time grinding. Rather than spending 2-3 hours trying to beat an easy boss (assuming best case scenario here ), I might have spent that time grinding, hopefully making the fight end quicker while using fewer elements, lessening the chance of a freeze. This is where I really started to hate the way the game dealt with leveling up, although it certainly isn't the game's fault. I do have a 60GB PS3. I don't know the specifics of this all, so maybe you won't be affected. I have the GH version of CC, so if they made some minor changes to it, I suppose those changes resulted in some sort of bug showing up on the PS3 (or even the PS2/PSP?). I don't recall seeing this bug listed on the BC websites.
well, managed to dig up the ol' N64 and hooked it up to a TV at work. maybe I can get some Banjo Kazooie action going on it to heal some of the wounds of regret
You have to play this game. It was easily the best game of the last console generation, and the funniest game I have ever played. Tim Shafter puts together some crazy fun games that are different than everything else out there. The level design and the characters in this game were inspired. I'm looking forward to his Brutal Legend later this year.
Shadow of the Colossus Super Mario RPG Knights of the Old Republic Super Metroid (huge Metroid fan) Zelda - Ocarina of Time
No excuse, as I own both games. In all truth, I have played each of them, but didnt get very far before stopping. Nothing wrong with them, as they both seem to be well respected and loved games by both critics and fans alike. Just not enough hours in the day anymore... And one more... The first one was one of my top 10 games of all time. After this came out, all I heard was a negative backlash and how it taints the original. So, I never even started it. Still in its wrapper on my game shelf. Perhaps I will bite the bullet and try it someday...
You know, I bought this game for my girlfriend, so she would quit playing Morrowind. I admire the game greatly, as it is absolutely gourgeous. But it is just so open ended and vast, I would never be able to accomplish anything in it. She has logged about 90 hours on it in the last year and is just now nearing the end. I wish a game like this had come out when I was in like 6th grade or something and had nothing else to do...
Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall was really good (IMO), and it came out in 1996 (TES1: Arena came out 2 years prior to that). Didn't look like you were in 6th grade at the time judging from your profile though. That game was WAY bigger than Morrowind and Oblivion combined. I think I read something about how it would take 1-2 weeks to travel from one end of the world to the other. Unfortunately, most of that space was empty, and the game was even buggier than Morrowind and Oblivion.
Really? I had never even heard of it. And, no....I was a junior in High School in 1996. In 6th grade I was all about Megaman and Final Fantasy on the original NES...ah, the golden years.
It was the game that introduced me to TES, so I'd obviously remember it. I don't think it got the attention that Morrowind and especially Oblivion have received. It was crazy how much there was in that game. Even with the bugs, it was really enjoyable...well, except when you encountered those bugs of course.
