I hope you don't mean RE5 for the Wii. I don't think it's comming to the Wii because it can't handle the graphics. It's listed on Ps3 or Xbox only.

...someone hates you if they bought you those 2 games. :D

As far as what I'm looking forward to... too many things.

I'm looking forward to the next NBA 2K (always), Brutal Legend, RE5, FF13, Killzone 2, Tekken 6, Ghostbusters, Skate 2, Star Ocean, Chronicles of Riddick, KoF XII, Infamous, Raven Squad, Fight Night 4, Bioshock 2, and Uncharted 2.

A little more than a game a month, plus add in a few random purchases. Sounds about right, haha. :p

I should add that if God of War 3 comes out in 2009, it will vault to a tie at the top of my list with Brutal Legend. I think it will come out spring 2010, but I could see Sony really pushing to have it available for the holiday sales push in late 2009.

RC Cola, you definitely should make another write-up like you did in the other years' threads. Always interesting to see what CF's leading PS3 nut (bar none) has on his mind.

Now enough with the ass-kissing and on to what I want to see.

    In rough expected chronological order.

    Killzone 2 + PS3 price cut
The PS3 is set for a price cut and with the abysmal performance in November Sony definitely needs to act now and stop the slide to the 360. Cutting price to $299 when Killzone 2 comes out (or bundling KZ2 + Blu Ray + Blu Ray remote with PS3 for $399) will do it. More hype needs to be created for KZ2 as well. Those with no PS3's and don't play religiously haven't heard about this gem yet. Sony can use it to convince them to buy a PS3.

    Heavy Rain
I haven't played Indigo Prophecy, but Heavy Rain is intriguing. I don't know if it'll be a real "game" per se but it'll be a nice change from shooting zombies or racing cars.

    God of War III
Haven't played the first 2 GOWs either, but I plan on doing it when 3's close to releasing. The Spike trailer was amazing, and apparently David Jaffe has said it looks even better than that.

    Games for PSP, Please
I bought one game for my PSP last year and it was Patapon. There just aren't any PSP games coming out anymore, it seems. Hopefully that will change or I'll consider getting my PSP modded so I can play the crap games out there for free. Right now it feels like a waste of the $279 I paid for it 3 years back.

    Please Wii, Fall off
It's good that the Wii is bringing in casual gamers but it's really hurting the hardcore gamers with PS3's and 360s. Studios shouldn't be putting effort into developing craptastic gimmick titles, period. Hopefully as casual gamers realize the gimmickyness of it they'll buy other consoles.

I hadn't even heard of Indigo Prophecy until I noticed a blurb about Heavy Rain late in 2008. I picked up Indigo Prophecy used for 8 bucks last week and am looking forward to checking it out. I'm glad I got my PS3 with native BC.

The demo they showed for Heavy Rain looks awesome. They might actually be able to accomplish a true branching story that depends on the player's actions. Definitely a change from the normal gameplay.

1up had a good writeup on Heavy Rain.

NFL2K10? Ok probably not. But I guess started playing NFL 2K5 with updated rosters again and till this day that game cannot be matched. From the presentation to the gameplay. Puzzles me how this game can be better than a next gen football game.

Nothing really stands out to me other than RE5 and SF4, and I'm not super excited about either of them.

Thing is, casual gamers aren't gonna play stuff that hardcore gamers play. Grandparents and little cousins are the demo that a lot of the Wii is for. Though it'd be funny to see my grandfather play Fallout 3.

    I wish. :(

Haven't really kept up with what has been said, but Wiki says that Ubisoft has it scheduled for 2010. Might get to see it this year though, especially if it is an early 2010 release.

I can see Capcom maybe doing another RE game for the Wii, possibly even a RE5 spinoff. But no RE5 (unless it is really watered down).

Agreed. I'm not expecting it before 2010, although I will say that I was somewhat surprised they were able to show gameplay of it already (not that they showed much).

I almost bought Indigo Prophecy a while back, but I was a little worried about some of the impressions I read, particularly about the gameplay. I checked out the PC demo, and it was pretty cool, although I wonder if the PC version is easier to play (controls might be strange on a console). Like the HR demonstration, there were multiple ways of completing the demo. I ended up watching a video walkthrough of the game on Youtube since I was primarily interested in what kind of narrative the game had (the game's strongest point). I did come away really impressed. Definitely an interesting and unique approach to video games, although it did have some faults (can get a sense of those faults from the HR interview).

I would probably approach the game as if it was an adventure game (getting clues, talking to people, solving puzzles, etc.). Certainly not some intense FPS or anything like that. If you're not a fan of these "cinematic experiences" or whatever you want to call them, HR (or IP) might not be for you. Indigo Prophecy (and likely HR) use a lot of QTEs, which are either love it or hate it. I'm guessing HR will have multiple endings, and has been demonstrated, the game will probably have good replay value (some scenes will be entirely different depending on what actions you take).

I love this kind of stuff, so needless to say, I'm really looking forward to the game. Of course, all of my HR threads probably made that obvious...

As for what I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):

    Rage/Doom 4/id Tech 5
Don't really care that much for the games (at least at this point), but I am really interested in the engine.

    Backbreaker
Again, not super-interested in the game at this point (haven't really shown much gameplay), but I really like the tech for they've shown.

    White Knight Chronicles
Probably the 1st somewhat large-scale JRPG exclusive to the PS3. Level 5 kind of took it in a direction that I don't care for (the MMO aspect of it), but as long as the single-player campaign is still strong, I'll probably still like it. I thought I saw some positive impressions about it from its recent Japanese release. In fact, I'll probably start looking more into it in the next few days/weeks.

Mass Effect 2, Ratchet & Clank, Team Ico's Next Project, Twisted Metal (or whatever Jaffe is working on), ?
Don't know how many of these will actually make it out in 2009, but I'm hoping we get some official announcements for these games in 2009.

    Final Fantasy 13
Won't be out in 2009 in the US, but at least we should start getting a steady stream of info/media for both games, including gameplay. Guess I could import the FF13 demo or even the final version, but I think I'll just wait until it releases in 2010.

    Some Multiplatform Potential
Prototype, Alpha Protocol, I Am Alive, and Borderlands are all currently scheduled for release in 2009. Each game seems to have something interesting about it, and I'm hoping that at least one of them turns out to be pretty good. I'm sure I'm forgetting some games that are equally as interesting, but these were off the top of my head.

    Killzone 2
Not sold on the game yet, but I love checking out the game. Release will be in a few months, so I should get to see a lot of the game, whether I end up playing it or not.

    Heavy Rain
See above. Or past threads.

    God of War 3
    Duh.

    Yakuza PS3
Was always interested in this franchise, although I've yet to give it a try. Don't know if these games will even make it to the US (first PS3 game has already been released in Japan for a while), but I'd like to try them out. The trailer for Yakuza 3 had some really nice graphics IIRC.

    More Shin Megami Tensei Please!
Atlus USA might bring over the new Devil Summoner game that was recently released in Japan, although I'm not sure if I'm too interested in it right now. I'd prefer a more traditional RPG, and I've yet to play DS1 (seemed to get mixed reviews, unlike other SMT games). Probably way too early since Persona 4 was barely released, but I would really love to see something new, either a new SMT game (as in the style of Nocturne), new Persona, new DDS, or even another spin-off. Should be about time to transition to a new console (or consoles) too. Regardless, I have to finish DDS1 and find a copy of DDS2, so that might help pass the time...along with all these other games.

    The Rest
Games that I'm too lazy to write paragraphs for: Alan Wake, BioShock 2, Diablo 3, Dragon Age, Infamous, Uncharted 2, Deus Ex 3 (hopefully it is good), PixelJunk Dungeons, Project Offset (still a game?), etc.

Mostly off the top of my head, so I'm sure I forgot some stuff. Of course, I'm also looking forward to playing some 2008 games in 2009 (Fallout 3, Dead Space, Valkryia Chronicles, etc.).

Indigo Prophecy wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. I appreciate the effort and the change of pace and am glad to see developers do something different, but it didn't grab me like I had hoped.

Not really. It's not like people buying those games would be buying the so called 'hardcore' games. And it's not like the hardcore gamers are suddenly going to start buying hardcore to get casual titles.

It's not that. It's that for every staff member and dollar that a developer puts into putting out a Wii game, that's one less that would have gone toward developing a quality PS3 or 360 game. The crazy success that the Wii is having is causing every developer to jump on the bandwagon, and they're making games that are last-gen just with the addition of some motion sensor or a friggin' board. I personally could care less.
