I've played quite a bit of poker, and unlike real life I've been able to come out on top most of the time. The one thing I really suck at, is horseshoes. I have the worst time winning that. 5 finger fillet is easy at first but it gets hard with the bigger bets.
I like the game so far. The only bummer is the pre-order code from Gamestop was supposed to give the Assassins Outfit, but not really......you have to complete task to actually get it. Cool game though.
Apparently, there's a visual disparity between the PS3 and 360: http://www.pcworld.com/article/196661/analysis_red_dead_redemption_on_ps3_vs_xbox_360.html Screenshots: http://www.gamerfuzion.com/blogs/red-dead-redemption-360-vs-ps3-comparison/
The ps3 version is subhd, lacks foilage and detail. Also in post 786 you can see missing articfacts. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395669&page=16 It is not game breaking though.
I had a friend come visit from out of town yesterday, so I finally got to play this today. So far it's been good. I really didn't start having fun until I started playing multiplayer. A random guy and I took out a gang hideout on our own, was pretty fun.
My sucking at horseshoes in the game continues. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with it. I would like to win just one game at least.
If you really want to just win a game at horseshoes, lower the bet. Don't forget to hold LT (on 360) to line up the shot first
Where do you play horseshoes? Im too busy dominating in Liar's Dice. Anyone try cheating in poker yet? I really dont want to, that would be too immoral. (inside joke in case some of you dont understand)
That might help. Because every time I do manage to get the distance right, I'm off to the right or left. Thanks. rezdawg, I haven't played dice or craps yet. But you can play horseshoes on the MacFarlane ranch. There might be other places. I've only played about 6 hours so far.
I honestly can't see the difference in the 360 vs PS3. I guess, PS3 has more of a cinematic feel to it? Being a bit blurred....not sure.
Anyone else didnt kill the guy in the hills? I hogtied him and rode him into town and dropped him off at the sheriff office...but I am guessing I should of killed him, since there was no one to throw him in jail....I just left him in there and cont on.
Played the crap out of it yesterday on my day off. Finished the main quest in the first area (Fort Mercer) and finally got around to getting the Dark Assassin outfit. Here's hoping it pays off. Haven't done much of the gambling. Not very good at it. Managed to win a game of horseshoes finally to check off the requirement for one of the outfits, and managed to win a couple of times at Liar's Dice, but I just can't win at blackjack or poker. Just like real life. Haven't even tried Five Finger Fillet yet. As for the gameplay, I thought before release that the autotargeting would make it too easy, but in some of the firefights it's a lifesaver. Basically, I'm just running around doing the side missions before I head to Mexico to start a peasant uprising or something.
I just kept betting a ton in the poker games despite having crappy cards. I only played about 10 games, but I won all 10 times because my opponents just folded after I kept raising them.
Damn it, another addicting game. Bought yesterday after reading all your posts. I was trying to hold off cause I don't have time for a new game in my life. Played for 6 hours last night and finally turned off at 3am. I just started to go to all the different towns and areas to see the scenes and play a few quests. Man I was collecting the 5th flower of 6 flowers I needed and a f**ing cougar came out of no where and killed me. That's some bulls*it. It was like 2am and I was really tired so when the cougar jumped on my back in the middle of know where I jumped like a mofo, almost fell off my bed. I guess I need to stick to one area and finish all the quest like someone mentioned to get a new suit?
Our TV died a year ago. We thought about going TV-less, but luckily my wife's brother had a HDTV he wasn't using while he was rotating on and off in Angola. He just moved to Houston and took the TV with him. Going cableless was a no-brainer because we just don't watch that much cable TV. I can watch the Rockets via NBA Broadband next year, and that was pretty much the bulk of what we watched through our cable company. My wife's parents asked if we wanted to borrow their spare set for a while, which we declined. We figured we'd buy one this Christmas and that it would be nice to not have a TV in the house. We don't let our young kids watch it, and we all enjoy reading so it seemed like a safe bet. This game, however, has changed my mind. I'm going to call the in-laws tonight and ask if we can borrow that set for a while so I can play this game. It looks amazing.
