By pre ordering from amazon I got a $ 20 coupon for future game purposes. Not to mention I didnt get charged tax
I dont see the harm in pre-ordering...I have a gamestop card that has credit on it from games Ive sold back, so I dont buy my video games anywhere else other than the store right next to my house. In case I decide to pick up a game at midnight, I know I will have a copy if need be. Its not like Im paying extra to reserve it, so I just do it just in case. Plus, I get a new outfit and new missions by pre-ordering (not that I really care about that, but still). As far as liking the game...I have to say that I was not a fan of GTA4 either. Ive played for less than an hour and it does have a different feel to it...I think I'll definitely enjoy RDR more than GTA4, but I cant say with certainty since I havent even scratched the surface. The multiplayer seems to be great too. I'll come back with more opinions as I play more.
I pre-order the game because it doesn't cost extra. I like the idea of having some kind of in game item. I pre-ordered from Best Buy, so my pre-order will come with a war horse that my character can ride. SUpposedly the war horse is one of the fastest and toughest in the game. If they'd had the limited edition in the US that they had in Europe with all the pre-order bonuses I would have done that.
i've never preordered. this was the first time because Amazon was offering a $20 GC for future purchase on anything, not just games. That's basically 33% off the retail. oh yea, and no tax.
A friend of mine went to gamestop first thing in the morning to pick up RDR and since he didn't pre order, they didn't have enough copies for him. They told him to come back in a few hours when they're next shipment comes in.
I picked it up last night and played for an hour or so. My only gripe is the controls are kind of hard to get used to, but other than that it's truly awesome.
Gamestop does that on purpose. He could just waltz into Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, or any other department store and grab a copy.
That happened to me when I didn't pre-order assassin's creed. It also happened with a couple of wii things like the balance board, and something else. I ended up finding copies of the stuff at Target of all places. This was after trying multiple gamestops and bestbuys. Target is a hidden cache of just released stuff. But for me, now I'm hooked on the in-game pre-order goodies.
I'm curious, what does Gamestop get out of turning customers away and not getting a sale on the game?
They only order enough copies to fulfill preorders. If it's a major title, they'll get more shipments later. Why? Probably because they want to start selling $55 used copies as soon as possible.
I picked up a copy at gamestop just after 10 this morning, they had plenty of extra copies, but typical gamestop kept trying to sell me extra ****. The only thing I don't like so far arre the horse conrols, they seem a bit off, it was a little smoother in Gun
I picked one up at the GS at Memorial City Mall today around noon and had no problem getting one, with no pre-order. I've already screwed up and killed someone I shouldn't have.
Ive already F'ed myself with honor... I was riding around and I saw some guy screaming for help and there were two people shooting at him. Without thinking, I shot the guys chasing him, and they turned out to be sheriffs. Then, when I was walking in the town, some guy was crossing my path and I accidentally pushed him out of my way...he starts shooting at me, so I had no choice but to shoot back. I end up killing him and then I become wanted. I start running out of the town and the po po came after me. I shot and killed one guy as I was trying to escape. Oh well...had to pay $55 to clear my name. Have to make that up at the poker table (spent more time at the poker table than in the freaking game).
Was a pretty short game, It leaked Friday and since my xbox is already banned I went ahead and played it... fun game though. I bought a legit copy for the ps3 to check out the multi-player.
You actually don't need to pay the bounties I found out. I had a $375 bounty on my head almost immediately after starting the game. I only had $11 I had won from poker. I was arrested and they just made me do a bounty hunting mission to repay my debt.
Im so pissed, I pre-ordered at Gamestop in Houston, but Im in Cali....and the jerks first told me we not opening up at midnight...(find out this morning they did) then they tell me if you didn't pre-order we cant sell you one. Come back tomorrow. To top it off, the Walmart down the street is also SOLD-OUT. Now, my gf is gone to work...and I have no way around to go find the game...
Man... should have ordered it from Amazon, too late now but if you pre-ordered it you got a 20$ GC, and for 5$ you could get release date delivery.
