And there should be absolutely no legislation done. Video games don;t make people do things. And if they do, the kid has pre-existing issues

it is common knowledge that almost all stores card people, I have never once been to one that does not (Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, Fry's, etc.)

Except for maybe the ambulance part, none of this is really exclusive to GTA. Other games pretty much act the same way.

Let's put it this way...if you wanted to make a game like GTA (well, you probably wouldn't, and don't know if I would either), how would you do this? If you're going to give the player access to weapons and fast cars, while also putting in innocent pedestrians littering the sidewalk, you pretty much have to tackle the issue of the player attacking them. If you just ignore this possibility (making pedestrians invincible or whatever), then the game loses realism. And being the perfectionists that Rockstar likely are, they want some things to be as realistic as possible. That would be why an ambulance would arrive if you kill enough innocents...though I'm sure this was relatively trivial to implement.

I don't particularly think that (that stuff gets old quickly, but the missions can be pretty fun...and GTA has somewhat interesting stories), but I agree that this seems to be the popular conception about the game. But I think that just has more to with trying to make a game like this (with added realism)...which I guess is pretty sad, because when you do, people just going around killing people. I'm sure Rockstar realized people would do this, but I doubt they actually wanted GTA to be just about this. I think they take more pride in their work than that, which they probably should since they spend a lot of time/money on the storylines, missions, racing mechanics, paramedic/cop missions (where you actually get to save innocents!), soundtrack, etc. If it was just going to be a game where you could go around, killing innocent people, then it definitely didn't need to cost $100M (or whatever GTA IV cost).

The prostitute stuff is probably a bit more blatant, but I don't really think much of it. Seems more of a funny little scene than anything I'd take serious. And other games are probably just as bad if not worse in the "sex" aspect (i.e., God of War).
