Pre ordered the limited edition at Best Buy, seemed like a good deal at the time, with Robin as an extra, extra maps, a mini figure and art book i think.
Sweet. They just announced Deadshot will be in Arkham City. He apparently has a number of targets in the city, and Batman will have to use forensic skills to investigate assassination scenes to track him down. This is a lengthy side mission instead of part of the main campaign. The side missions in this game sound like they will be pretty epic and not just a one mission and done affair. It sounds like you'll have to work your way up to one of the super villains and then take them down. They also announced that Batman will have 12 gadgets that can be upgraded. If you take down Mr. Freeze, you get ice technology. They also announced a week ago that we get new game plus. The enemies will be tougher, but you get to bring over all your upgraded weapons from the previous game as well as riddles you've found. So far we have: Joker Harley Quinn Hugo Strange Riddler (lengthy side mission) Two Face Cat Woman (playable character) Penguin (side mission) Solomon Grundy Mr. Freeze (side mission) Calander Man (side mission) Zsasz (side mission) Deadshot (side mission) Talia Al Ghul This is shaping up to be the dream Batman game, blowing away Arkham Assylum. It sounds like they've improved on all the great things from the previous game and addressed (and then some) the few shortcomings. I'm looking forward to this game more than Uncharted 3.
Definitely. Arkham Assylum won GOTY at the British Awards. I think it's between this and Uncharted 3 for GOTY at most of the awards shows. Although Skyrim and Dark Souls might get a few nods on some sites, and COD and Battlefield 3 will get their nods from FPS fans. If Arkham City plays as well as it looks in previews, it's certainly on the short list of nominees. I'm going to have to watch some Batman: The Animated Series and some The Batman to whet my appetite over the next month. I want to play Dark Souls and Uncharted 3 (as well as continue the monster excellent reading streak I'm currently on), but they all take a backseat when this game is released.
This is probably the last trailer we'll see for Akrham City. It went gold the other day. I'm so damn excited about this game. I'm assuming Hugo Strange, the Joker, or some combination of the two will be the final boss. It was also revealed that if you play the Joker's Carnival, the Joker will come down and fight Batman if you rack up a 100 hit combo. <div style="background-color:#000000;width:520px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:moses:video:gametrailers.com:721369" width="512" height="288" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed><p style="text-align:left;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding:4px;margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:0px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;">Get More: <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com">GameTrailers.com</a>, <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/joker-trailer-batman-arkham/721369">Batman: Arkham City - Joker Trailer</a>, <a href="http://pc.gametrailers.com/">PC Games</a>, <a href="http://ps3.gametrailers.com/">PlayStation 3</a>, <a href="http://xbox360.gametrailers.com/">Xbox 360</a></p></div></div>
preorder from walmart and get a $10 ecard and arkham asylum for free too bad i already have arkham asylum
It is the GOTY edition, so you get all the DLC free if you haven't played it yet. I haven't played but I might check it out for free. I'm still holding out for the Toys R Us buy 2 get 1 free promotion if they run it as usual that week. I need to check CheapAssGamer.com to see if they have any info. Otherwise, I'll probably go with Best Buy to get the Robin DLC. Rocksteady has made his gameplay sound pretty interesting.
i hoping for toys r us too. I'm thinking to preorder it from bestbuy or amazon. Leaning towards amazon, because i'm planning on getting uncharted 3. i really could use an extra $20 bucks (save on taxes plus the 10 bucks)
Amazon pre-order gets you a comic book in addition to gift card.. Comic book can net you some $$ on ebay thus further reducing the cost of the game.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/320937/batman-arkham-city-review-10/10-in-worlds-first-verdict/ First review with extremely high praise. Plus the 4th playable character revealed as none other than.... Spoiler http://www.gamepur.com/news/5573-batman-arkham-city-fourth-playable-character-revealed.html
I don't have the first game so I might as well Pre-order this one at Wal-Mart.. Damn I'm pre-ordering a lot of freaking games and I know I don't have time to play them either, lol....
And another villain gets revealed. Spoiler Looks like we'll be throwing down with a much cooler looking Mad Hatter: I'm still really hoping we face off against Firefly as well. I cannot wait for this game. I'm tailoring my reading so I'm not in the middle of some series when it comes out. I called Toys R Us today and they said they're not running the buy 2 get 1 free sale this year, so I preordered from Best Buy.
2 more weeks! From what I've heard this games takes up about 100 hours of gameplay on the store alone? Maybe I misread. I'm so glad I'm not working right now, all my attention will be focused on this game.
I read that it was 40 hours. 25 hours for the main story and then another 15 for all the side missions.
The reviews all came out today, and Arkham City is scoring an average 97 right now. I cannot wait for this game. I'm avoiding all the boards from here out because people have the game and are posting spoilers. The one important thing I did glean from reviews is that you should download the Catwoman content before you start a new game. It's locked with an online pass, which you get free when you buy new. Used game purchasers will have to buy it separately. Apparently, this integrated the Catwoman content a lot better and also changes the opening scenes. I cannot wait to play this game next week.
