Uh, I did not say she was a slacker, I take umbrage with Ubisoft promoting her as the key players behind the game when she is essentially a person who just reports on the game to Ubisoft. Ah, why do I even bother.... DD
Are you guys just finding out about Jade Raymond? She always seemed to get more attention than the game whenever anything new (like a video interview) about the game was released. I think David Jaffe has had a few interesting quotes regarding her as well. I wasn't aware of her exact duties as producer, but I got the impression that Ubisoft basically wanted her to be the (pretty) face for the game; I know when asked directly about what she did as producer, she gave some vague answers (did a little bit of everything, helped the core team realize their vision, etc.). I was hoping that maybe I was wrong (after all, she does seem capable of doing much more than that based on her bio), but I'm guessing DaDakota knows more about what the job of producer means at Ubisoft. That's not to say that her job is easy of course (doing all the media stuff and producing developer videos can't be easy, especially after doing it for 3+ years), but yeah, I'm not sure she's really "down in the trenches" as DaDakota put it. As for the game, it apparently went gold today, which actually makes me somewhat sad. It seemed like the game had several bugs and issues at E3 (some of which were still there in more recent builds), and I'm not sure they really had enough time to work all that out. I get a feeling Ubisoft is trying to push it out too soon, which may not be a smart thing IMO. I'm basing this all on the 360 version as well; I don't even what to think about how buggy the PS3 version might be.
I published a game in 2001 with Ubisoft, I am WELL versed on how they operate. That being said, Assasins creed looks great. DD
The only problems I really saw was screen tearing. The animation glitches and other small technical problems should be fixed as I read they had devs working around the clock to fix these issues. Screen tearing doesn't really bother me, and 90% of the people probably don't even know what it is, so I think the game should be fine when it's released. Plus, we don't even know if the screen tearing will be there in the final version.
Going gold means the game is done and sent out to be mass produced so we can get it in time for the release date.
The screen tearing (along with framerate issues) didn't really bother me since that stuff rarely bothers me in general. I was more worried about some of the glitches, like poor collision detection and NPCs popping up in front of you. It still seemed like the collision detection was off in a recent video I saw (although maybe not quite as bad), and apparently someone who got the play the game at Ubisoft a few days ago mentioned that 4 guards popped up out of nowhere, and didn't respond until one was killed. So those bugs still seem to be part of the game, along with some others. I think I remember hearing complaints about the combat system, so I was hoping Ubisoft might have some time to rework it a bit, although I'm starting to wonder if it was really that big of a deal; I'm not sure why you would be trying to fight 10 guards at once as an assassin...unless things drastically change in other parts of the game...more so than what we already know drastically changes anyway. Maybe they got to fix these bugs at the last minute and/or these were from really old builds, but I'd feel much more comfortable if the game had a extra few months to work everything out. It will probably be a great game regardless, but I don't want glitches to ruin the experience. And yeah, AFAIK the PC version is set for release sometime in 2008. Depending on how much effort they put into porting the game to the PC, I'm not really sure it will have fewer bugs than the console versions though (may even have more, if other console-->PC ports are any indication).
you haven't worked with IT people or programmers have you? they can lack common sense. Like when you go put the address in the address field and your address name is long and the field is short. or for video games where you are on xbox live and the dude who's hosting the game fell asleep and you can't just exit the select screen.

I work with programmers all the time...well, that is if you would call CS students programmers anyway. What about when she's talking videogame...in French? <object width="480" height="292"><param name="movie" value="http://www.gamersyde.com/extstream_3936_en"></param><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.gamersyde.com/extstream_3936_en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="292" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
