Bro, if you could make like a Rockets film thread where you break down plays that would be so awesome. Could learn alot from this.
Then run it with Favors man - Tucker. Or the other forward. Ingles. Or Mitchell who’d be guarding CP3. I’m saying if it starts working you just have to make them switch it up a bit.
By your descrption, the defender is never caught on a screen, because there is no screen of the defender's lateral movement, nor forward movement. Don't overthink this. You can't pick an ICE defender with Capela...their job is to stay above the pick, which is very easy to do. Run what? I thought your point was to get Gobert out of the lane?
You don't need my past videos of ICE. It's common to find on youtube. Because it is such an important new invention in NBA defense, due to the eradication of Illegal defense rules. ppl can Google "NBA ICE defense" and Google "NBA snake dribble" you'll find videos of ICE and Paul snaking it. He did this constantly in 2018 playoffs v Utah...it's how we beat them. Maybe I can post ICE vs Chris Paul from Game 1. There is at least one in the 3Q And we will see it again tonight. Just look for the snake dribble.
Only partly - getting Gobert out of the lane. It was more that the team plays defense one way. While you can certainly practice another way and be "ok" at it, the Jazz aren't going to suddenly be great at this style. But if they do dial it in a bit, make them do some switching first, and they'll get confused. The Bucks are more equipped to run it well given their players are more switchable and they are more fundamentally sound... though I think Harden by that point, and the rest of the team, will be pretty used to it, and as with the Jazz, running various schemes at it will make it harder for the defense. To me, I just play Harden straight up, give him slightly more room on 3, don't contest heavily or at all on step backs, and let Harden beat me from 3.
Did you watch the video in the OP. You'll see the switch from the EGo perimeter pick, but it doesn't remove the ICE/Shade. It just switches who is doing it. And keep in mind, I list pretty much everything we did with Harden on previous page. We don't just do 4out1. We ran some 5Out, Thru, Horns and Double Drags. Some of those completely avoid the Shade/ICE defense altogether. Further, I didn't list anything that Paul does.
OK, @HP3. Here a very small sample. It demonstrates Utah's Standard ICE on Paul/Capela PnR (@JayZ750) Ingles job is to get above the Capela pick and take away one side of the court The Big Drops Paul is invited to drive This is the same defense they run as ICE the ISO Rubio takes away one side of the court Gobert Drops Harden is invited to drive I also show a 5-Out Motion look for Harden ISO with Capela diving from weakside
I know you have something in your mind that you think will work. If you ever see it happen, let us know. Maybe you are the only person in the world that knows this.
Yes like I said in op i have never seen anything like this before just a theory. I doubt we ever see it in game but I don't think you've fundamentally debunked it as of yet so the inverted pivot screen lives on brother! Enjoy the games
sigh...can we just laugh this off as a fun invention of the mind. As soon as you bring Capela out to give a pick, this is standard ICE Defense -- Tom Thibodeau invented it. Your "theory" that it would be different because it is Harden is mistaken. The league widely uses ICE Defense. Want is unique is ICE the ISO -- the Buck's defense. But there is no pick. You would need to teleport Capela to a perfect position, then allow him to illegally move his screen in order to prevent the ICE defender from doing his job. No one ever tries to put a PnR picker between the defender and the half-court line, because it just helps the defense...and there are scores of other ways to attack ICE or avoid it altogether...which I've listed ad nauseum. I'm confident if you understood what ICE defense is, and understood it's counters, you'd know it can't be done I can further debunk it as nearly impossible, if you give me 5 minutes with you on the court.
