OK just got back to the hotel and reviewed the game film. Thank God the Vegas summer league is not using the single camera take as was the case in Orlando. Looked like a rugby scrum out there.

D-Mo - he is NOT going to shoot that well every game. However his rebounding and defense were excellent. I cannot think of a current PF in the league that has his range, mobility, low post presence and defense. He looks like he would be a perfect complement to Howard at the five.

White - I was honestly worried about him. If he was 6'11" he would be an all star. His lack of height will encumber him for his entire NBA career. Hope he can find a niche.

PG's - Fortson seemed pathetic. Machado seemed to make as many good plays as bad plays. Overall disappointing.

Jones - The guy is a BB player. Nuff said.

    Parsons - had his way.

i agree with pretty much everything you said. Motiejunas looks like he can be a very good player and is very skilled for his size. As for White, I was not impressed. He has no jump shot, and cannot finish around the basket. He is definitely a project.

Not sure there's more than 3 or 4 rookies from the 2012 draft that I would trade D-Mo for right now. We are lucky to have him. 21 year old star of the future - if he plays with that kinda hustle and swagger every night !! Very encouraging to see. Made the wait worthwhile and satisfying to say the least.

A very good post. He will get better with time, and as he gains strength.
The difference between D-Mo and Andersen is in the effort that D-Mo puts in.
He is better around the basket with his touch, and he can rebound/shoot.

It's one game, in which Sampson clearly stated that's not the way White has played and he was trying too hard....im not sure how you can really make any long term analysis using that sample.

DMo should literally be off limits period.

Rox after all are doing the Magic a favor by taking HowArd off their hands 'cause otherwise, he leaves for nothing and they're literally starting from scriggity scratch!

The fact that the Rox are still willing to trade for a player that won't guarantee a long term deal....yet they want DMo too?

    Nope!!!!

Take our offer or leave it 'cause that's the best you're gonna get!

    DMo stays put.

    The end.

donuts 3's hittin all net speaks volumes about his touch from distance.. if his post game can be polished up a bit he could be a very good player that helps us forget about scola.. right now his post game seems a bit mechanical.. maybe thats his game.. idk..

If you listened to his short interview from SL he said he averaged 5 3pt shots a game, didn't make a lot of them, but they were easy (ie, he was confident taking them) shots for him.

Donuts can really get down the court in a hurry for such a large guy. It is easy to see him slamming home some dunks after a turnover or long rebound because he is going to beat his man down the court a majority of the time. This alone should be a good weapon if we are as determined to push the ball and play uptempo like both McHale and Morey have said.

One thing the highlights did not show, however, is that he got knocked to the ground several times despite being the biggest man on the court. It happened enough times to be noticeable. We'll see if that was just a one night thing.

Miss the game, hows the defense?
VERY good first game, with nice shooting touch and hustle, but anyone remember Pat2 SL?

I'm keeping my fingers cross this is not his best game ever.

What a debut by DMo. He was beating the other bigs down the court all game long. He mixes it up between the block and the outside, making him a mismatch nightmare. Strength still looks like an issue, but he was certainly motivated to dominate today.

JV isn't playing in SL. He's going to the Olympics with the national squad to which D-Mo said no this year due to the tricky contract situation.

Well to me the most encouraging thing about DMO is his hustle, swagger and D. A lot of players come into the league with NBA potential, but only the ones that don't run away after hitting the solid wall that is the NBA become stars.

DMo's hustle and D will serve him even if his shot doesn't fall as good as it is now. Same thing with Lamb, both these guys are keepers. White's play is dissapointing, I think its clear he has no future in the NBA as a full time PF unless he plans on being a career backup. He should take lessons from Morris and start working on his SF game.

Does this look like the same woman in the Donuts interview video? Seems to be. This one is/was a Polish or Russian BBall League cheerleader, whichs makes a little sense. She and Donuts appear together on her fb page.

This team definitely needs some hotter player girlfriends at courtside. Anyone remember the entry/exit of Matt Bullard's gf back in the day? That was always one of the better reasons to sit down low. Good times.

He needs to play like sh't for the next two games...on purpose. Otherwise Orlando will refuse to do a deal without him. And that would really piss me off. McHale should have pulled him after three quarters.

I was very impressed with his footwork defensively, and the fact that he ALWAYS had his hands straight up. There just wasn't much wasted motion for him.

We'll see if he keeps it up.
