Chuck Hayes is easily one of my all-time favorite Rockets. Daryl Morey needs to keep him around. I'd imagine that the Bulls would love to have Chuck Hayes behind Carlos Boozer.

Hayes on Melo aint exactly a fair match up. You can blame Bud and the refs for Melos 50.

But I just love how Chuck gives it his all asisnt anyone at anytime. The guy is just too damn awesome.

Chuck Hayes needs to be cloned.

Great vid, but I thought for sure Clutch would put up a vid of Scola getting tackled and Battier taking a seat right next to him!

Chuck has earned his stripes. He isn't a body filling up space anymore, he is a force.

I still remember wanting to upgrade his roster spot all the time - When Jordan Hill got to Houston, I figured we'd seen the last of Chuck. Then you realize and acknowledte how awsome he is and how much he is a part of this teams success.

    Kudos to Chuck Hayes!!!

Awesome rip by Chuck. He timed that perfectly. That's hella hard to do on defense especially on an offensive juggernaut like melo.

I believe that Chuck Hayes has got to be the strongest 6'6 player I have ever seen. He's been mention for being the shortest and all but he needs to get recognized for how strong he is. The guy is guarding the likes of Bynum and Howard and these guys are huge. Other 7' centers would wobble, flop, or buckle while Chuck would just hold his ground.

I have not seen a unique player of his caliber in a while. He is a hybrid type of player where he's strong and quicker than most playing at C with a downside of being short. But, he's too slow, and doesn't have the range to play what his height suggest, like a SF.

Hayes certainly has the strength to defend Melo but the speed was lacking. Asking Hayes to play outside of his position on the defensive end was a tough task and its a stretch.

We really need someone that can fill in minutes for Battier that can defend. Bud isn't going to cut it.

Great post. There is too much denial about this on the board.

Was he trying to draw an offensive foul?

I said this in jest last night in chat, but I think it might have a hint of truth to it. He likely wasn't fully prepared to guard Melo. Typically that wouldn't be his assignment and he has said that he studies film to know the guys he's guarding. So studying every move Melo makes isn't typically his job, it's Shane's.

    He made the effort though.

    Thanks for the vid Clutch!
