So will we actually see the other rookie? Or does this mean TMAC's minutes will actually be upped?

Hopefully, our current rotation isn't over played to make up for it. This is a TOUGH stretch of games, and I don't want anyone else getting hurt.

It's quite possible to walk with a broken ankle, particularly if it's a fibula (speaking as a former x-ray tech). A moderately severe sprain can be almost worse than a broken bone actually; a bone can heal fairly cleanly, but shredded muscle, tendons can someimes be trickier to fully heal.

Breaking your ankle is not as bad as tearing ligaments. So it's a really good sign that he was able to walk afterwards - because while it doesn't rule out a break, it probably does rule out ligament damage that's severe.

I tore up an ankle 15 years ago and it effectively ended my basketball days. Never was the same - torn liagments never fully heal. A broken bone can heal.

If they are saying 3 weeks he is really lucky because it meanst he injury was minor.

I think that goes to the "weigh less" category ;)

When this happens to me (more often than it should) i'm out for two weeks or so. But second week is more precaution from hurting it further.

I have it on pretty good authority from a friend who's an ER doc that if you can walk 4 or more steps at the time of the injury, the odds are so good that it's NOT a broken ankle that they wouldn't even do x-rays in the ER. They'd just send you home. At least, they're not supposed to do x-rays per the Ottawa Ankle Criteria, which ER docs are trained to use.

That being said, there may be no bone breakage, but he could have torn ligaments. Torn ligaments can't be seen on a regular x-ray, so an MRI would be in order. (I haven't read ahead to see what the ultimate fate of his ankle is/was; I'm only now starting to dig into this thread; by now he may already have had an MRI or been diagnosed with a fracture, etc.)

I replied to you saying "any ankle injury can be walked out initially". That's not really relevant to the Ottawa rules. If it's severe enough you're not going to be able to walk on it, i know that from first hand experience when i suffered a severe second degree. I was not able to take any steps on it initially. I also partially dislocated my other ankle before and i wasnt able to walk that out initially either. Perhaps you didn't mean "any"...

Also, the ottawa rules are more than just walking on that ankle/foot. They'd still have to x-ray the ankle if the other rules applied, even if they can walk on it for four steps.

Btw, did anyone notice how he pretty much outran all of the other defenders, even Pavlovich?

He might not be the quickest, but he has pretty good speed for a 6'7 guy.

I did that to my ankle 5 years ago and to this day it still gets stiff and I have to step down on the outside edge with a bit of force to get it to pop and crack so that it feels loose again.
