I think this walker is smart. He only fought with superstars. He'll soon have a tough bad-boy reputation and every contenders love to have a couple of these bad boys.

 

I didnt hear the rockets broadcasters say anything like that... boston has a huge ego....

Walker has apparently got into a couple confrontations at practice, Worrell said he even got into one with KG. If I'm Doc, I would ride this kid into he grows up.

I watch a lot of games other than Rockets on League Pass, and Tommy Heinson has to be the absolute biggest homer of any sports announcer I've ever heard. I've learned over the years to mute his commentary if I'm watching a Celtics game. And, yes, it's very childish.

 

it pains me to say this, and i will get flamed for this but we should remember not to throw stones in glasshouses, there are homer commentators are all over the league, including Houston

 

What about the pair from Chicago? We get WGN here in Kentucky and I catch some Bulls games here and there, especially when they play the Rockets, but the announcers are freaky ridiculous, they are like the Rush Limbaughs of basketball announcers.

 

There is a difference between a homer and Tommy.

I don't mind a homer announcer. But a guy who complains about every single play and the mocks the refs when they make the right play. And puts down every player on the opposing team isn't a homer, he's a moron.

I especially hate the ones who down talk a good play. Although our commentators are obviously bias, they at least give credit to the teams and their plays. As for the Celtics..... When Wafer drives in and dunks, its awkward silence. When the Celtics make a shot, he acts like they won the superbowl.

 

Ah, Bill knows he's being a homer and he's almost jokey about it. The Boston guy takes his own opinions way too seriously, like giving out "Tommy points." Can you imagine Clyde giving out "Clyde points" in all seriousness? Ugh.

 

Agreed. Bill and Bull will even go as far as to admit that they are homers live on TV. I don't see anything wrong with announcers being homers. They're paid by the team organization and that's what they're expected to do--pander to the fan base. But even in the midst of their homerism, they're never ashamed to acknowledge the other team when they make an outstanding play, or compliment opposing players on their skill. Nothing wrong with being a homer. Just don't be an utterly tunnel-visioned, one-sided nutbag.
