The old white guy started it with the shoe shine remark, and his "you could be a Chinaman, it doesn't matter." He provoked a reaction and then assaulted the black guy in "self defense". Both he and the other guy should be ashamed.
From what I understand from the beginning of the video. The black guy walked past the old man and said something. The old man thought he said something about shining shoes. He asked him about the price to shine some shoes because he had a funeral that Friday to attend. The black guy took it as a racist remark, and it escalated from there. The old man removed himself from the situation, but the black guy got all "Pinky" and the rest is history. I would say it was more the black guy's fault and the stupid girls behind the camera.
Did you miss the part where the white guy seems to think that the other person offered him a shoe shine? Then clearly asks for him to restate what he said when the other guy says that's not what he said?
Who should be ashamed, the guy who has his hands out ready to be cuffed or the guy sitting with a broken nose? I think it's a lose-lose situation when all said and done. A lot of people are rooting for the underdog, because they want to see the one barks the loudest get their a** kicked.

It looks like Pinky said something alright. the girl who filmed the video should get some sort of reprimand for her behavior. a reprimand from society.

Take a look at who is involved in these fights. Usually non-educated, low-income, etc. It's not the water ... but I know what you mean, sir.

It's been a while since we've had so many funny and entertaining threads in the Hangout on the same day. I was getting worried there for a little bit. Hangout was disappointing.
I'm guessing you're 16-18 years old and have never left the suburbs? I don't know where else you could get that "he would have stopped after that."
When the old guy went to the other side of the bus he could have stopped talking and nothing would have happened. A simple: "Sorry about the misunderstanding" would suffice. Don't act like you were backed into a situation where you had no choice but to cave the other guys face in. That's why it is dumb to get into shouting matches with strangers.
