the black guy was just trying to be a black guy and the white guy was just trying to be a white guy and durvasa was also trying to be durvasa.
I dont see anyone defending the white guy for being involved in the war of words. The problem here is that it escalated to a physical confrontation, which was all a result of the black dude. Just because there was verbal abuse doesnt mean it has to escalate further...its all on beetlejuice lookin dude.
Let me alter the situation slightly, and you tell me what you think. Suppose as a result of this war of words, which they engaged in purely to protect their image and not look weak, the black guy pulls out a gun, fires it, and it kills a young child who is a bystander. The black guy is subdued and arrested. Suppose you are the parent of this child who was just murdered. Do you feel that the old white guy should apologize, or is he completely blameless (i.e. "its all on beetlejuice")?
Holy crap. Are you hypothetically trying to pin some blame on the white guy for a black guy pulling a gun in an argument and shooting? Hahahahaha!!! In that case, headphone gal is just as guilty for not doing anything to difuse the situation.
rezdawg, it looks like if Falcons Talon was the white guy, foolishly and unnecessarily trying to act hard, and as a result your kid got killed, he wouldn't feel any obligation to apologize to you. After all, he wasn't the one that pulled the trigger, so why should he feel guilty? You're cool with that?
I would apologize that I did not do more to stop him. Wow. You really are grasping at straws there. Tugging at the ol' heartstrings to try to get someone to agree with you. Weak sauce.
I have tried putting myself in the position of the white older male and really if I would have been him then this thread would not exist.... It is pointless and ignorant to argue period, I would ignored the guy running his mouth. I doubt the black guy would have hit me if I would have kept my mouth shut and said "My bad".... Sometimes, a simple "My Bad" can avoid a whole lot of trouble. Ignorance played a big role here, Ignorance that led to violence...
Ive never said the white guy is completely blameless...but if the black guy whips out the gun and kills my child, I wouldnt pin it against the white guy because the murderer here is the black dude...and he would be the one I would be killing with my bare hands. When it got physical...thats all on the black dude. It could have just remained verbal.
BTW, Durvasa, If I ever saw you, I would pop you in the face, and you I would sleep well knowing that you would not retaliate and you would have to deal with the fact that you are partially responsible for getting popped in the face.
Durvasa, you're just not a real world person. Your inability to differentiate between public transportation and "office etiquette" shows a lack of self awareness in situations out of your comfort zone, and it's only exacerbated by your stubbornness in admitting you're becoming more and more off base with your metaphorical interpretations. Just be a man, accept you're wrong, and move on. Your internet reputation is taking a huge hit here. The immortal, has become mortal. And when the crowd senses the legend is only a fragment of his former self, a revolution is inevitable. Lay down the arms, do some yoga, and retire for the night.
Unnecessary verbal confrontations with strangers in a public setting is stupid. If one is reckless and engages in them because he doesn't want to look weak, he should be willing to accept some responsibility for the consequences. That is why he should apologize to you, or whoever that kid belongs to. He should feel terrible, not because he was unable to stop the bullet (he isn't superman), but because his foolishness lead to the gun being drawn in the first place.
The white guy is certified crazy. He is the neighborhood nutjob in the North Beach district in San Francisco.
See, this is where you are missing the point...the gun being drawn is ALL on the black dude...why the hell would he pull out a gun? I agree the whole verbal confrontation was stupid and blame lies on both parties...but it does not need to progress further. Ive been in many verbal confrontations and they can stay at that. But when you have one party that is unwilling to let it stay at that, its all on them. If the black dude didnt throw a punch, it would have never escalated to that level. The fault for it getting to that point is on the black dude.
I agree with Durvasa 100%...... verbal confrontations or any kind of confrontation period is unnecessary. The bigger man would have been the one to put up and shut up....
