Exactly. Sometimes when you win, you really lose. Sometimes when you lose, you really win. Sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie. Sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose.
The older white gentleman did everything a reasonable human being should do in this situation. I don't see fault in someone defending them self.
To the couple people that think the old white dude is equally at fault...if you were with your wife, mother, or daughter and that black dude was talking to them in that manner, would you still sit there with your tail between your legs or would you stand up for them? If you would stand up for them, then there is no reason why you shouldnt do the same for yourself. If you wouldnt stand up for them, then there are a few backbones missing from your bodies.

I would interpret that as: "You better get away from me and shut up." No, I don't think his goal was to get into a physical confrontation. His actions led up to that, but that was because he let his emotions cloud his better judgment. Actually, it seems like that is the case with both men. It is not so strange considering that both of them continued to lob threats at one another. Just moving away isn't enough. The argument continued.
Yes, the argument continued, but had the black dude stayed at the back of the bus, no physical confrontation would have taken place...it would have just been a war of words. Instead, it turned into something much more than that because of the actions of the black dude.

Yes. Which is why he is also to blame. You see, when you apply that standard to both sides, the logical conclusion is that both of them are at fault.

Both are at fault for the verbal assaults. Black dude is at fault for the situation escalating to a physical confrontation.
