The 2nd sign he did definitely looked like an L symbol. So put two and two together, a "W sign" and an "L sign" and I have come to the conclusion that he was just taunting the fans about us winning and them losing. I'm not 100% sure of course but that seems to be the case. Just off seeing that picture I can see why some came to the conclusion that he was throwing up gang signs but I personally don' think that is what he was doing.

Now as for people saying Brooks took his frustrations out on Love because he is frustrated with his role and contract. Again I think that is false. I thought Brooks overreacted some but in the heat of the moment I could see why Brooks thought Love intentionally hit him. I don't think his reaction had anything to do with being frustrated about his role or contract situation.

Exactly, and my guess is the overeaction of some has a lot to do with his struggles on the court as of late.

I'm actually less concerned about AB's in-game reaction and tech (though, that point in the game, you just CAN'T give the other team points) than I am about his post-game comments. "Flailing around" is what happens under the basket. Even moreso by a guy who's all hustle all the time, leading the league in rebounding, etc. This is Kevin Love, giving 200%...and almost getting his team back in the game in the last minute. It's called effort. Every once in a while someone gets hurt. It's not intentional.

And even more concerning is AB's play and general demeanor. He's costing himself a bunch of $$$, no one else is.

I agree, going by Feigen's reaction, even he seemed perplexed by his response. AB almost seems like he thinks he is entitled in some way and the situation was of no consequence.

It is of no consequence......my gawd...he threw a basketball in the heat of the moment after getting hit in the face intentionally.

BFD.....he won't get suspended, nothing will happen....

Man, you youngsters need to watch some basketball from the 80s...that was nothing....the NBA today is wussy ball compared to what went on back then.

I agree with you, Jay. Part of me doesn't blame Brooks for being upset -- he didn't get his extension, he lost his starting job as a result of an injury and he's smack in the middle of his contract year -- but he's been frustrated for a long time. His play has hurt the team at times. He has to figure it out.

Just hunch, but I felt that the moment the Rockets matched Lowry's contract (which I thought was a hair expensive for a backup PG) that there was a bullseye on AB's back. I haven't understood these "reports" saying Brooks is the last Rocket that this team is looking to trade. He may not be first, but I tend to think he's a strong candidate.

Gotta side with DD on this one, the board is overreacting big time on the confrontation itself. It was a small confrontation. It's not like Brook took a swing at Love. He's a small guy and he was just letting a big guy know he's not going to back down even if Love didn't intentionally do it. When guys swing their arms out like that and connect most of the time the guy that got hit has a negative reaction to the person who did it. This is not the first time it has happened.

It is of no consequence now... you didn't know that then. This has nothing to do with "basketball in the 80s" or toughness... it was the timing. A 17-point lead was whittled down to 4, and Brooks took a point away in that stretch. Granted he did get hit in the face and I don't think it was a huge deal, but it wasn't the smartest thing. I'm sure you'd agree ... had it been Lowry.

It VERY much was of consequence, the game was only an 8 point game and they had ALL the momentum. It turned into 3 free throws that cut the lead to 5. Rockets were on the verge of blowing a 17 POINT LEAD to a 10 win team, yes, I'd say that was a crucial moment and for him to treat it as if the moment wasn't important is just plain ignorant.

Oh and we aren't in the 80s, I watched plenty of 80s and 90s ball and if this happened back then...Aaron may have left the court on a stretcher.

The only untouchables on the Rox are on D (ouch). AB may well need a trade, and I suspect he will be part of a significant deal. However, with 'Melo' holding the NBA hostage no significant deal is likely to go down before Melo is dealt (to NYK).

He would have been too quick, Love would never have gotten him !

    ;)

This team is not going anywhere anyway.....they need to make a choice to go young, even if they got Lebron, they would struggle to make the playoffs...36ish games to play and 5 games back...yeah, ain't happening.

Actually Clutch, I would support any Rocket player that got hit in the face and decided to stand up for themselves.

Love did that on purpose, no one flails their arms down after jumping up....it is not a natural movement and AB knew it....

As for winning the game, yeah, it could have hurt I guess, but do you really think that matters this year?

This team is not going to the playoffs, so I am starting to lean heavily in the "Higher draftpick" category.

And yes, I will stand up for AB, as he is getting to be the punching bag of the team this year.....without any thought as to why he might be struggling etc....

Of course the next time we beat a team like Boston where he gets 24-10, they will quiet down....

As for the AB vs Lowry debate, both of them are playing like backup PGs....Kyle is playing better, but it is staggering that we went from a position of strength to one of weakness so fast....

Our PGs are not getting the job done, neither of them.

Haha, true on AB vs Love.

Also agree on going young, Melo isn't going to help this team's defense and even Melo/Nene probably isn't enough. They need a face lift and to just start over. I really don't want this to become the Stros pre-trade deadline 2010.

No, I personally don't. At this point I'll take winning or losing (just not win-loss-win-loss) and I prefer a draft pick. But it doesn't matter what I think, as a fan. That doesn't have anything to do with what the Rockets are trying to accomplish out there. They're trying to win. AB is trying to win. So if that's his mindset, it wasn't the smartest thing.

Now if you're saying Aaron Brooks doesn't think winning "matters this year," then that's a different story and a bigger problem.

It would be, and I would hope that is not the case, I think competitors want to win.

Clearly he is frustrated, he is jacking up shot after shot, my guess is trying to get his stats up to get that new contract.

To me that is one of the biggest flaws in Morey's no extensions policy.

Leeb brought up an excellent point in another thread about how contract years can affect players.....

Like Chuck Hayes magically getting better at FTs and shooting, some players respond to it, and my guess is that AB is responding to a rather tough year so far, by trying to do too much.

Which is Ironic, because Lowry is struggling, and AB could take the job back pretty easily by just playing within himself.

The seminal play that sent the NBA down a rutted road was McHale's dirty, dastardly clothes-line of Rambis. Riley reacted by rewriting the gameplan for the Lakes. Daly rewrote Riley's rules, and the league fell into a long abyss.

Wussy ball? Give me today's NBA over the Bad Boys era.

Easily? I think not. Adelman didn't make Lowry the starting point simply "to make a point." I don't think he takes these decisions lightly and I don't think it has as much to do with AB struggling with his shot as it does with Lowry being a better defender and distributor. Shooters go through slumps. Adelman knows that, if anyone does. He stuck it out with Chase and Budinger finally responded. I think you're off base here, DD.

That seems to be a good tactic to weed out Mentally weak players. Landry panned out that way and Scola and Lowry have gotten better.

the only player that this policy seems to be effecting seems to be Brooks...coincidence? It's HIS problem, not Morey's.
