This guy is good. Video is a time-lapse of this guy using photoshop to create a portrait of thom yorke (radiohead). <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjcHhjt6bYo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjcHhjt6bYo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> http://www.spin.com/features/everybodystalkingabout/2007/03/070305_thomyorke/
It is amazing how much photoshop has changed the art of drawing. Looking at how many changes the guy is making including moving the whole ear and head. I would like to see the same guy trying to do that using pencils and paper.
He's probably using a pen mouse and pressure pad. We work with a renderer who uses that kind of set up and produces beautiful drawings.
My philosophy professor does this stuff all the time with guys like Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler, and a bunch of famous Philosophers. The only difference is that he uses "Paint" with no effects and a wheel mouse. He studies the people for a week and then adds in "personality" to the portrait. Honestly, they all come out better than the original pictures.
