That was stupid by Lucas. What would that steal do other than create a bad situation. Professional courtesy is to not try to score if you're up with less than 24 left. Lucas broke an unwritten rule, which is, let the clock run out if you're the defense.

Lucas…. classless action. Garcia..there's nothing wrong with sticking up for teammates who now have an extra turnover on their stat sheet.

I'd love to have melo and laLa here. Puts Houston on the map even more. I welcome bandwagoners. I was here first, that's all that matters. Lets make my team GROW. That has positives impacts for the Rockets overall even if the immediate future wasn't to work out (which I think it will).

Agreed, it was stupid for Lucas and I always support Garcia in sticking up for our squad.

Having said that, I still believe it was stupid of cisco to respond in the way he did. The dude could have easily just got in JL3's face instead of an aggressive foul. This is where injuries occur and bad reputations develop.

Whatever, it's over. Let's move on.

 

Stupid would be throwing a punch or pushing the guy back. The foul was within the game. Therefore, it was the smartest way to let Lucas know without further damage… which is what Cisco did. Getting in his face isn't sending a message within the game. That would be stupid. Getting in someone's face is what starts fights. Hard fouls are the right reputation if you are saying don't mess with us, it's not worth your time.

But, yes. Moving on.

 

That reminds me, since Lucas technically threw a punch will he get the suspension? I realize it was an air jab, but punishments have been handed out on technicalities before. I hadn't heard anything as of last night.

Lucas pulled a punk move.. it was cheap and very weak... one of the weakest plays ever. Garcia didn't do anything wrong IMO. He didn't push Lucas, he bumped him.. and not even a hard bump. JL3 then pushed Cisco and threw an air jab. He'll likely be suspended for the punch and Garcia should walk away scot free. Beverley on the other hand, will likely be suspended. He left the bench running 80' and got in the mix. Players have been suspended for running less while still remaining 40' from the actual altercation. Bev will lose 1 game.

 

The only justification technicality-wise for Beverley getting off, is the fact the game was over. Players have to leave the bench.

We shall see

Lucas' actions are deplorable. Honestly. If that was my organization I'd impose a suspension on him. Win, lose or draw your dignity isn't worth the steal in the last seconds of an absolute whuppin. Idk if they play the Jazz again but I'd assume an even worse beat down was on the way if they do.

I can't believe anybody has even a negative tone for Garcia. Garcia is an OG, Lucas was all like "HOLD ME BACK!!!!" and praying someone did. Jones was looking for some too, hell, the entire bench seemed in on it. That's a TEAM right there, tough guys all around. That's the right message to send, Minnie Mouse made two mistakes in a row but I think being 5'2" and playing for the Jazz is punishment enough.

Side note, has anyone been on the court when the smallest guy out there lost his cool? It's a little sad.

Seriously, how tough is this team? Bev, Harden, Jones, Howard, Asik, Garcia...Dmo? Dmo is scrappy and a big man so I give it to him by association lol...you might beat the Rockets but you are NOT going to show them up.

 

Cisco standing up for his PG is fine. Was that check dirty... yes...was it classless for Lucas to steal a ball from a player that wasnt caring for the last 10 seconds of a blowout game...yes. If JL3 wanted to make a statement, he should just mark this as a bad loss, and look forward to getting revenge later on. Thats motivation. Thats an appropriate response. Losing your cool after being embrassed is just pathetic. Im sure that John Lucas feels bad now, and it just looks terrible that fighting stance looked like a middle school kid getting ready to squabble...

The Rockets have a well balanced team. A goof and defensive presence in Howard, a gifted scorer in Harden, a feisty guard in Beverley, model in Parsons, decent bench PG depth with Lin, an enforcer(Garcia), and a tough Head coach. These are ingredients for a championship team. I just hope that the Rockets continue to believe in each other and keep playing like this. The sky is the limit for this team...Go Rockets
