He'll probably just get suspended with pay for a few weeks. Her case was messed up when she said she didn't argue. The video clearly shows that she was being defiant. The taser was absolutely unnecessary, but lying really hurts her side of the story.
Man, a 72 yr old guy dies in a closet from masturbating, and a 72 yr old lady gets tasered for resisting arrest... I thought I never live the day to see such a thing..
Granny: "I dare you. " P.O.: "WTH? " P.O'd P.O.: " Put your hands behind your back! [she refuses] You're about to get tasered! [she refuses again]" [ZAP!] Granny: "aa!!! aaa!!!!" LOL!
I don't know what it is but it is always funny seeing somebody get tasered. I remember I was with my cousin at a nightclub when he got tasered. We still laugh about it today of course he wasn't laughing when it happened.
do you think they keep every bit of video indefinitely? I seriously doubt, nor would i expect them to have a routine speeding ticket from several weeks ago on file. plus, the video doesnt even show the driver.
Cops are a bunch of douchebags if they have to resort to tasers to subdue a person that obviously doesn't have enough power to take them down. What's next? Tasering a 10 yr old bully?
All cops? I'm sure you meant some cops. While many are dumbasses....there are some good ones out there.
I guess I'm in the minority in that to me she was clearly being defiant and combative. I don't understand people who feel like they can/should argue with the police, especially when they're clearly in the wrong. I could see if there was some kind of entrapment involved or something, but she was driving 20 over. Facts are facts. Maybe a little excessive force, but she was an idiot.
That's what I was saying. I didn't say "All"...just cops that resort to tasers to someone that isn't a physical threat.
LOL True story but a guy that I have known since kindergarten did something similar to this. It was over 10 years ago and he was a cop for my hometown and he had gotten a reputation of being very ticket happy. One night, he pulled over some lady who was close to 70 and gave her a ticket for something stupid like an expired tag or a light that was out or some other foolishness. This lady had some health condition that when she got nervous, she had to move around. Being pulled over and not knowing why, she started to freak out a little bit. My buddy saw her get out of the car and start walking around. He ordered her back but she wouldn't listen to him. So after asking her like 3 times, he maced her. He later claimed that he was just "following the procedure" but I looked at him when he was telling me this with a WTF dude look. I think he realized later that common sense should have told him that she was not a threat to him or anyone else and definitely would not have "escaped". Needless to say the fallout from this episode was huge and it wound up costing my buddy his job (although deservedly so, IMO). But you just have to know him - he is somewhat of an idiot and it seems that many cops these days have that type of mentality.
I agree. And because she refused to follow directions she was rightfully put in jail. However, she should not have been Tasered. At her size he could have easily just handcuffed her.
she was clearly combatant, but was a taser really necessary to take down a 72 year old woman? If he is unable to do that himself, he does not deserve to be a cop. And whoever said cops are douchbags. I agree. I know all of you are saying "some" are, but I would put it as "most." I have met 1 good cop in my life. I am not one to get involved with cops, but the few I have personally encountered are all ass holes.
If he tries to subdue her physically that opens a can of worms. I think cops are good for NOTHING. They don't help you when you ask for help. The just try to bully you.
You can obviously see that the cop was frustrated and out of control. He should be fired for all I care. Taser's are leathal, especially when you don't know if the recipeant has prior medical conditions. The cop should of been in control but he was out of line instead.
I thought at one point when he tried to cuff her, she kept pulling her arm out. What would have happen if he had broken her arm trying to cuff her? Obviously tasering her could have killed her if she had a weak heart, but I think at that point it was a lose/lose situation for the officer. You can clearly tell the grandma thought she would get away with whatever she wanted to based on her age.
