Sure looked like Resisting Arrest to me. I hope they charge her for it. I've seen what happens when cops have to take someone to the ground using physical force. It's not pretty. Small burns from the taser beats a broken hip every time.
Just watched it with my wife, lmao. Geez, you would think that someone 72 years old knows not to piss off an officer of the law who has a license to kill with a penchant to tase. I can only imagine had that happened to her here in Kerrville the entire police department would have been fired.
You mean they won't break a hip when they go limp and slam into the ground after getting hit with the taser?
I don't think this is an issue of whether or not she deserved it. You know...if this was Shaquille O'neal...yeah, tase the guy. There's no other way to control him. This was an out of shape old woman. Do we tase out of control toddlers as well? If he was incapable of EASILY detaining this woman (and yes, you can do that without breaking bones) then he is in the wrong line of work....
Didn't she push back and say something a long the lines of "You're gonna push a 72 yr old woman?" She kept saying her age like it was a get out jail free monopoly card. Hopefully she learned her lesson.
I thougt she deserved it, the cop asked her to stand where she was but she wouldn't listen, she kept creeping closer and closer. She could have easily pushed him into the middle of the road. However I do think he should have used physical force instead of the taser...
...and she said "I dare you" when the officer threatened to tase her for not stepping back as instructed. Agree that gross force was used, but because she was uncooperative what jury will side with her legally? Well maybe in Kerrville...
IN THE FACE!! oh wait...well, that is pretty pathetic...c'mon dude, really? Seriously? You have to resort to the Taser b/c you can't handle the old lady... douche
Really gotta disagree with you here. Public safety is his priority. But his own safety is #1. Because if he's not safe, he can't keep the public safe.
The chance is lower than being slammed into the asphalt. Last I heard, they don't teach the Vulcan neck pinch at police academies. The officer did what he was trained to do. Police officers are trained to react in dangerous situations, and that is exactly what the deputy did. What more can you ask for than for a police officer to react as he was trained to react? If you don't like it, then I'm guessing your expectations are just not realistic. Remember, your tax dollars don't pay for an elite force of judo-trained psychologists with a knack for public relations. Most peace officers have a high school education and less than a year of formal training. Yet somehow they still manage to do a job where every mistake they make can end up in a courtroom, in a newspaper, or on TV. If you think it's easy, try it.
This is life not a courtroom drama. This not black and white. The choice is not between a Taser and her getting slammed into the ground and a boot on her kneck. She is a small lady. He could have easily subdued her. Not saying she might not have gotten some bruises from where he grabbed her but he doesn't have to beat her to get it done. She had it coming to her but he could have easily taken care of it in another way. I don't think he should lose his job over it but I think he could have done it better.
Wrong. 72 year women bones are brittle. Any fall no matter if it was caused by force or simply falling with their momentum and body weight carrying them CAN break an old woman's bones. If he were concerned about safety, he wouldn't have tried to scold her like a little child, and got the situation under control. Give his ass a desk job and a coke. Where he rightfully belongs.
This is actually a serious question: Is being tasered that bad? How many people here have actually been tasered?
You know so much about 72 year old women. I have concluded that you are either dating one, or that your are one yourself.
