I love all the threads about lets trade Yao now. Why? Does anyone really watch the NBA these days. One star can not make a team win, especially not make it to the playoffs. Since the rule changes, one star alone can not carry his team. Why, well now its alot easier to double and tripple team one person. Yao is a very good center. He may not be the apparent 40 and 20 guy every seems to think he should be but being a 20 and 10 guy is much better than almost everyone in the center postion, especially in a leauge that is short on centers, so why get rid of him?

Tracy palying without Yao and Yao playing without Tracy would produce the exact same results, we would not make the playoffs. With the both of them we become nearly a great team. Now I know everyone will jump on me by saying nearly great, but every great team has a supporting cast, and honsetly we just do not. Until more production comes out of Swift, Anderson, Wesley, Barry. We will not go every far in the playoffs.

My main point though is that Yao and TMac need each other, this spreads the floor out and makes deffending the team more difficult than with one star.

P.S. I have to point out that the replay saying Nash and wade are doing fine without their big men, still have others surrounding them. Nash has Marion and Wade has Alonzo who is still rebounding great, not to mention payton, and walker who are not great, but they are still treats any defense has to consider.

Well we probably, I hope never get any empirical evidence of how this team would play without Yao. The guy has proven himself to be a rock, I was very impressed the other day where it looked like he rolled his ankle and he came right back. Yao might not rebound or be as athletic as we all want but if he can put put up double/doubles every game for the next 10 years, he will go to the hall of fame.

T-Mac is amazing, the tempo of the whole team picked up dramatically with him in the lineup. The guys looked faster and more fluid with him out there. I always said we can win without Yao but we can't win w/o T-Mac because the team looks so much better with T-Mac in the lineup.

Without Yao, Rox is like the Lakers with Kobe.

Fairly speaking, Lakers has more talent with Odom. Rox has nobody else.
Lakers record is 5-8 with Kobe and Odom. Rox's record won't be as good without Yao.

Without Yao, we still have mutumbo and we are probably a .500 team with a slight chance to make the playoffs.

Without Tmac we are one of the worst teams in the entire NBA.

With both of them together, we are a championship contender.

Not that I dont agree with you, but...

marion>>>>anyone else on the Rox besides yao and Tmax

Miami has Zo at backup who's putting up double doubles everynight. plus they have Antoine Walker, and a bunch of other talented folks.

BTW, I knew I shouldn't have clicked o this thread. Something told me this was gonna be another TMacvs Yao thing.

Do you guys see Yao was much relaxed even his shots not fell last night, because he knew he wa not only one to take team, T-mac might take over if needed. That's made big diffeent on Yao's mind. Yao is not ready physically of mentally to carry a team by himself at NBA yet. A few years late, maybe.

I dont think its a fair question because look who backs up each player.

Yao -> Deke (you actually get better defense) / SSwift / JHoward
Tmac -> RBowen / Maybe DA (but he already plays alot of SG)

that is another reason why the drop off is so significant.

UGH, very well put. More comfortable with Deke at center or Flying Ryan at SF?

Yes, McGrady is the heart of this team and we looked bad w\o him. But I think Yao has gotten a bad rap in TMAC's absence, the guy had some great numbers. It is the lack of production from supporting cast that has put us in such a hole..........hopefully they will begin to find their shots soon.

Not hating on Yao, but I find it incredible that the West's All Star center (supposedly the "best") cannot win on his own: I liked (not Loved) the TMac trade, but this is where is gets wierd....3 starters for 2, one goes down & you have only one left. With TMac injured we might as well be the Magic of 3 years ago starting out 0-18 or whatever it was (how many games have WE won without him this year?). A better backup is a necessity with Tracy because he WILL miss more games and likely that trend will increase every year: back problems do not just go away....Anyways, GO ROCKETS!!! Get back to work. Football season sucked bad enough; don't ruin the basketball season too....PLEASE!!! We need to represent at OUR All Star game!

Hi Vegas, please let me introduce you to Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett. They are not happy with your remarks.

Yeah, it's not only losing TMac vs. losing Yao, but look at who's behind TMac and who's behind Yao.

If Yao goes down, I think Mutombo & Swift could hold the fort. When TMac goes down ... Ryan Bowen? Ouch.
