This is one area where I agree with Bigtexx. Outsourcing certainly causes short term pain but I think that overall it causes more good. It keeps prices down damping inflation and competition encourages creativity and productivity. Its also the only way to lift up the economies of developing countries. Without outsourcing and trade countries like India would never have the chance to reach First World living standards. As those countries develop they in turn will have a greater demand for the products and services that we sell helping us out. Also labor is only one input into the production process and many companies, like American Apparel, are learning that outsourcing isn't always the best way to go. While they may save on labor at the same time there is alot to be said for reducing shipping costs, higher quality and better service. Finally as consumers we have the power to address concerns about outsourcing. If we don't like it we can vote with our dollars by buying local.
