someone has already started this thread, but i'll reply anyway. i totally agree with you about "lose yourself" being the number 4 song. wtf is up with that? all it is is 2002's version of "gangsta's paradise" by coolio. very irritating song
The fact that it's "VH1's" list pretty much tells you that it will suck. Brittney Spears?!?!? Come on! Eminem?!?!? Jeeesus!
Everyone who works for VH1 must be 25 and under. This list is ridiculous. I agree with "Walk this Way", people act like this song gave rap music its validation in American mainstreem. Rap didn't need that song to hit mainstreem, and BTW the song sucks .
How in the world can a piece of crud song like "waterfalls" be ranked so far ahead of "Under Pressure".
They also complete ignored '80s new wave music. Just to name a few, where's The Cure-- Just Like Heaven New Order -- Bizarre Love Triangle Depeche Mode -- People are People VH-1 can kiss my a$$!!
How about let their Viacom network sisters, MTV do one. I think if MTV did, I am sure there would be a little more 80's new wave in there. probably not.
It's probably their list of the 100 most popular songs, though they don't use that terminology. It'd explain a thing or two...
the fact that not a single Tool song is on the list, completely invalidates the list IMHO plus any list of the best songs of the past 25 years that includes Whittney Houston, Prince, EMinem, and Micheal Jackson all in the top 10 was obviously made by people that have zero knowledge of music. Now if your making a list of the top COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFUL songs of the past 25 years, thats a whole different story! but the word "Best" to me means something different than "top selling", cuz
Free Falling at 39? That's probably one of the top 10 songs of ALL TIME, for f**k's sake. Not a single Dylan song in the past 25 years has been worthy of the top 100? VH1 is a joke.
No, I was watching the Today show and they were interviewing one of the jackasses who came up with list. He said that he and serveral other "music experts" came up with the 100 best songs in the last 25 years. They took song popularity, what the song did for music, and the ablity to stand the test of time into consideraton when selecting. Laughable.
