Fine, if they're all fit and ready to play. Hope it won't exceed the apron. Can't keep all 3 because of Tate. If he can't play D, he will be useless since he is a 6'4'' PF.
Look out for an Otto Porter Buyout...would be a great 3/4 3&D if healthy. Shaq Harrison 6'7'' 190lbs. PG/SG/SF 3/D and can create! Otto Porter 6'8'' 198lbs. 7'1'' wingspan SF/PF 3'sssssss /D and can create! Noah Vonleh 6'9'' 242lbs. 7'4'' wingspan C/PF
That’s a great thought with Otto Porter. He could accept a lower amount in the buyout because we have almost the full MLE, assuming we can dump some salary to get further under the apron.
I like this list. We need someone who can provide 15-20 mins up front, and all of these guys have done it except Bender. Gibson might be a good vet calming influence in a fairly explosive lockerroom... not that Tyson Chandler or Jeff Green did much for it. Hollis Jefferson gives us a guy with length who can guard some wings that we don't have, and Dedmon has the potential to be a rim protector + shooter type. Dragan Bender is an interesting name if you believe the new coaching staff has the development chops.
Rockets may not be signing another player any time soon. I'm not just talking MLE (which I think Rockets will hold in back pocket for trade deadline anyway) but even vet min signings. But if there is another player signed, expect Clemons to be cut. Rockets may have been a little too hasty signing Tate and KJ so early. Not sure if either are ready to contribute any time soon on this team. I hope they prove me wrong.
A backup PG with good enough floor general/passing skills, can hit threes and play defense. Really don't want to be abused defensively at PG since it's so important nowadays, just be decent or quality. Really would be great if he can create off the dribble. 6'8 ish 3&D wing with length who can defend for playoff matchups. This is always a player type that becomes important later, think RoCo, young Ariza or Mbah on the '18 team. And a true center with size who can space the floor from three (or at least a jumpshot) for insurance for Boogie. Also keeps Wood at PF. Shaq Harrison, or whomever is BPA for a point guard. Roberson if 100% would be a great sleeper defender to pickup as a 6'7 wing defender. And Whiteside at center first if possible (not sure if we can afford him) then Dedmon, say what you want Whiteside is healther.
Well not sure how much they can assign players to the G league to open up roster space. If only one is truly available then a good backup PG or center if one of the undrafted guys proves capable.
I'll need a G league expert to clarify but this reads we can assign our two way contract guys there? Not sure yet Frequently Asked Questions: NBA G League 13. What is a two-way contract? "Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under “Two-Way Contracts.” NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons." https://gleague.nba.com/faq/#:~:text=NBA teams can assign players,in the NBA G League.
I agree with @Clutch here about needing sniper from 3. Could of had 6'7 Ryan Broekhoff (41% from 3 and has played in BOTH Silas and Weaver's systems).
Rockets already filled up their 2 way spots: PG Mason Jones SF Trevellin Queen Both do not count towards the 15 and both will spend time with Vipers.
Except Broekhoff is a liability on defense. So it does not fit Clutch's requirement. Rockets already have Ben Mac as a shooter and a meh defender
I believe Jones has a 2-way. I do not think Queen has been given that yet. Queen and Wooten have to battle for that one.
