if you missed it, i got upset at a fellow poster for generalizing the actions of a few ismailis as the actions of the group....

    double standards.

i may seem hostile because when i approach the source(jamatkhana) i was shunned simply because i have a beard and am light skinned. if it was a clean shaven white guy in a suit, im sure he woulda been given the grand tour.
what do you mean u say as many surahs as we say in namaz? its no competition, lol ive seen this misconception before as well. ive seen some ismaili say that we say 7 verses in our 3 duas thats 21 verses, while u guys say 4 verses in 5 salaats. and thats only 20 verses. i didnt understand what he was talkin about, but i guess u all think its some sort of requirement to say a number of surahs a day.

    and add a few lines

    from your site
    http://www.ismaili.net/html/modules...s=0&postorder=asc&highlight=shahadah&start=15

    as for leading prayers
this i found at your site

    http://www.ismaili.net/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1655

    who is mhi?

will you take me to your jamatkhana? at your liesure...

and where are we supposed to check these claims, another random ismaili? wouldnt that be just as faulty of a source?

when the primary source (jamatkhana) wont let you get info directly from them, you have to go to alternative sources.

it is shirk, its also shirk asking the prophet mohammad pbuh for something... you cant ask a dead person to intercede for you.

does ali r.a. hold more significance than the prophet himself?

because the greeting of salam was an order from the prophet.

i dont recall ali saying "when one of you meets another say ya ali madad"

bro, it is forbidden in islam to fast on a friday unless you are doing so as part of ramadan or in consistency thru the week.

No, for a Muslim, of course it wouldn't. But Hazrat Ali holds more significance to Shias than Sunnis. But that is the bottom line between Sunni and Shia right? Shia beleive that the interpertation of the Quran didn't end at Prophet Muhammad. Shia believe that the right to interpretation continued through Imamat by the choice of Allah through Prophet Muhammad.

"He who beleives I am Mawla, Ali is also his Mawla" was told to all the followers at Ghadir-e-Khum. (that is not the exact word for word tranlation as I don't know how to read arabic :( )

The interpretation of the word Mawla differs for a Sunni and Shia. So in this way, we hold Hazrat Ali as high as regard as Prophet Muhammad due to our beleifs of what the Prophet himself declared at Ghadir-e-Khum.

In the end, you have proven that Ismailis are not Sunni Muslims (which is inherently true). I won't have the exact same belief as you because I'm Shia and you are a Sunni. BUT all Shias (which includes Ismailis) are Muslims in the end.

Haven't you all had enough of these nasty arguments in the religion threads, especially those dealing with Islam? Maybe some of you genuinely do want to learn what others believe, but you have to be really careful in your approach to asking questions. If you ask someone a question about their religion, then ask it and leave it at that. Keep the name-calling to yourselves. As it says in the Qur'an

"Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way. " (An-Nahl 16:125)

And to the Muslims posting on this thread, PLEASE keep in mind the severity of declaring kufr (disbelief) upon another person who claims to be Muslim.
    Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle (Muhammad) said, "If a man says to his brother, O Kafir (disbeliever)!' Then surely one of them is such (i.e., a Kafir). (Bukhari)

I completely agree. I might question things about the Ismaili school of thought, but that is out of curiosity. Nobody has the right to cast anyone as a believer or nonbeliever.
