in the final analysis, they are too young and lack a lot of experirence. they need to continue their grownth, it's just not their time.
as long as Ron contain himself to good defense and making shots along the flow, this game is in the bag.
Roy won't do jack this series, ron and shane are too good of defenders, and to face both all the time is just tough. the only players i'd say that can play well against our perimeter defense is lebron, carmelo, Dwill, and kobe.
Roy isn't the key. What's important is whether the Blazers as a team can loosen up. Roy was the only guy who even exerted himself. It doesn't matter that he isn't Kobe. If Kobe played last night instead of Roy it still would have been a blowout. Roy was devastated by the sorry play of his teammates. I'll say it again: The key to whether the series is competitive is whether the other Blazers decide to show up or not. That was the biggest team choke job I've seen from the opening tip to the final buzzer. If Roy had 40 points last night, it still would have been a blowout. He isn't the problem; it's everyone else.
I want to win this series one game at a time-I have been sorely disappointed before- do not underestimate the Blazers - there is so much talent there.......Brandon roy is a player the Rockets looked at hard in the draft and wanted. I do not rememeber if Blazers made a deal for Minnie's pick to get him-but the Blazers did very well in that '06??draft. Roy as an individual talent is better than anybody we have on the floor. Luckily this is a team sport and these young Portlaned players have not woken up..........
I don't know if they choked or it was just the fact that they are currently in matchup-hell against Houston and they just don't have any players who you can isolate 1-on-1 other than Roy. Even Aldridge cannot operate much out of the post when he is on. Their Bigs are overmatched and the team as a whole relies too much on jumpshooting to be an effective playoff team.
In fact, that's a very good strategy. I still remember the strategy Larry Brown used when Piston beat all mighty LA Laker to get the champion.
C'mon now. The Rockets aren't 30 points better than the Blazers. Matchups don't explain epic blowouts.
I noticed that too. Especially where Roy basically got around him when he tried to dunk on Deke. Luckily we got serious shotblocking down there, but better not to rely on that and keep him from getting a step. I also agree if we keep LMA, it's ball game right there. The others can't do **** to us.
We did a lot of things right and forced Portland to do a lot of things wrong. But it would be arrogant to expect us to come out shooting that well again, or see the Blazers (minus Roy) look so flat come Tuesday.
