If we try to play during the week, either Tuesday or Thursday would be best for me. Not sure about the upcoming weekend. But it sounds like people are not all that interested in playing unless we track down a better court somewhere.
guys i might have a solution. There is a gym at HBU Glasscock center. It is open to HBU students but i have seen many outsiders play. There is no id check or nothing. One student just sits there to keep an eye on the equipment. If we want we can go and play in there at evening hours. Its an indoor gym and usually wide open. They also have 360 with rockband and ps3 e.t.c with ping pong tables. If you guys want to come than i can ask these guys for their gym schedule because sometimes they have aerobics group practicing there. So let me know.
I'm out for tonight. Aside from the weather sucking, I have to go to the allergist and then the Rockets play at 9. We could play Thursday and get some action in before the Portland game at 9:30. I'm interested in that HBU thing too.
okay, i know on Thursday the gym will have some aerobis class till 6:30. I will ask and let you guys know tomorrow about the timing. The glasscock center stays open till midnight on weekdays and till 10 on weekends, so we can always play till 10 or 11 on weekdays whether it is ping pong, rockband or whatever.
Hey i found out that the gym is open tomorrow and that we can play till 10 easily but the only deal is that they do check for ID but are very leniant about it. They only ask for id's when they see you come from the main glasscock center entrance. If you go from the sharp gym which is right adjacent to the Glasscock center then they won't even see you enter the gym. So if you guys do want to play then just enter through the sharp gym and walk through the locker room towards the gym of glasscock center. The directions are simple. Just take Fondren exit off of hwy 59 and if you are coming from North side then make a left at the fondren signal and if coming from south then take a right at the signal. After the turn the make a right at the first signal and enter the parking lot toward your left side. Once parked you will see a walkway leading toward the sharp gym. just enter the gym and on your left side you will see an entrance leading toward the glasscock center. map
I'd love to make it out but I have to go to the other side of town after work tomorrow to get my car out of the shop and give my dad his truck back. Unfortunately there's no way around it
i'm interested in starting to play with y'all. after an embarrassing outing last friday at UTMB i've realized i need to get back to playing regularly or lose all of my glorious skills forever. after reading the last few posts, is anybody going to do the HBU thing tomorrow (Thursday) night? and is anybody going to be at the other place on saturday? how does it work, do y'all usually decide if there's going to be a game and then people show up or do you mostly just show up and hope others do. and the more important question, how will i know who y'all are? i don't wanna just ask random people if they're from the internet (but i will if i have to). is there only one court (narrowing down the choices) or will i have to guess, starting with the court with the best ballers of course.
We generally come here and confirm that we're in/out, and even if we don't get a lot of people there are a few that will usually show up regardless. It's rare that anyone else is playing on the court other than little kids that wander over from the little league games that are going on nearby, so finding us should never be a problem. To be safe you might want to wear a shirt that has "franciz 4 prez" printed on it in big bold letters.
Just go up there and start babbling popular clutchfans phrases. They'll surely recognize you then. Though I would caution you not to use "Hispanic?" or "jelafied." You might get beat up.
I won't be able to make it either today or this weekend. Little one is sick. I am very interested in the HBU gym thing, though. If there is a reliable way to get in and out without them carding us, then lets do that.
might check out HBU on saturday just to see how easy it would be to play there on the regular. I think i'm gonna head out to the usual spot tonight for a little shoot-around and maybe some game. Possibly Shan and Mig too. Kam is a maybe.
i like teh hbu idea, but like any other place, once it seems it's getting more packed than usual "staff" start to take notice. eventually, we'll get carded. maybe maybe no
