Guys, I think I may have found a new place for us to play.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&u...r=Bellaire,+TX&oi=manybox&ct=10&cd=1&resnum=1

Pin Oak Middle school is a very nice, recently built school across the street from the HCC West Loop campus.

Pin Oak Middle school has a large football / baseball field. In a sort of hard-to-spot corner there is a Tennis Court. The Tennis Court has basketball hoops. They appear to be in pretty good shape. I went by there today to test it out. The hoops are not bad, no double rims. The Surface is a tennis court surface, which is pretty nice for grip. There are 3 tennis courts, so basically there are 6 half-court hoops.

I went by there just a little while ago, and at 2:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon and the only people there were a couple of girls hitting a couple tennis balls. The only other people anywhere were a couple of kids hitting some baseballs far away on the other side of the field.

    Pros -
-Good, central location for most of us.
-Decent hoops and a good surface.
    -Traffic noise not an issue.
-Not likely to be very crowded as far as I can tell.
-We'd be fighting off white girls who want to play tennis instead of the mexican mafia
-Good part of town, Bellaire > Ghetto.
-Parking is not an issue, even if the closer lot fills up, the HCC lot should always be empty on the weekends.

    Cons -
-We would have to strictly play half-court, which is what we play anyway.
-There are no markings for 3 pointers or anything, Call your own long shots.
-I'm not sure about the lighting situation, I don't know if there would be lights if we wanted to play in the evening.
-Its a middle school, so we are pretty much restricted to weekend playing.

Overall, I think this could work out pretty well. It suits most of our basic needs.

i'm all for white girls and getting out of the ghetto. weekends, half-court and lighting are no problem really. the only thing that sucks (at least for me) is no 3 pointers. maybe we could figure something out for those (must be some cracks in the concrete or something).

nice and close to me also. and if anyone wants to lose to me in tennis while we're there, we can do that, too.

When I visit my extended family up in Minnesota they have a similar set up (basketball hoop on a tennis court)

When my cousin and I play we just kind of use judgment to say whether it was a 3 or not. Its really not that difficult to maybe bring a piece of chalk and mark a few spots down too.

I suggest masking tape to mark off the 3 pt line. While chalk is removable...it's probably easier to just pick up a piece of tape.

    Orange masking tape.

    Total win.

    Maybe even red.

but does anyone want to play tomorrow.

and if the tape is easy enough to get up, then that's what i was thinking about using to mark off a line. chalk goes away but not sure they want us marking up the court.

That new court you picked out is a great location for me. I can make it out there around 3:30 or later if yall decide to play.

I am up to play either tomorrow and/or Sunday.

I still want us to try out that court by the HCC west loop center.

If y'all play tomorrow (well, midday or afternoon), I'd probably be down... probably not on Sunday, though. I seriously haven't picked up a ball since I've moved down here, though, so I'd probably suck for the first game... but I do want to play.

If the past two days are an indication, today is going to be beautiful.
