I agree. I've played there a handful of times and even if I'm hitting from everywhere, I'm somehow still the 5th option on offense.
Damn man. Honestly Id love to play with yall guys again but I can never find time to get out there. I need the exercise... btw, clutch, maybe you would have better luck with a football thread. I know you and few others would like to play as much as I do... but I have not gotten any attention on it. I am begging to get a good game going on the field.
It is common for blacks (majority) to not frequently pass to minorities (whites, mexicans, Bolo) when first playing together. You'll be alright if you just remember that every move you make on/off the court is an audition for the part of ballhandler. The preparation begins with a pre gym shoot around at a local desolate park. Get your shots in so you'll have a touch going before arriving to "warm up". When you fist get to the gym, you must not be wearing your basketball shoes! You must wear some type of casual shoe to shoot around in, "guilty". First thing you do when shooting around with potential teammates is to do some type of full speed crossover or hesitation move for a short J. Do not go glass, I repeat do not go glass. The bank is not open and neither are you come gametime. Next thing is to take somebody's change and attempt a couple fancy layups with it returning the ball to them in a slow, sloppy anywhere but the chest pass. When the ball has been shot for and right before check is given is a perfect time to go and put on your basketball shoes and grab a drink from the fountain. Defense should be used sparingly as energy should be saved for the offensive side of the ball. On offense, you shouldn't cut or do anything that could take energy away from your dribble drive. Your ballhandling privileges live and die on your first touch. What you do with it determines your role on the team for the evening(assuming you win, as you should cause you have 2 lebrons a kobe and jordan on your team). Your first touch must end with a shot attempt or it will be considered a miss. A make and you are well on your way to receiving the ball when you're wide open, sometimes. A miss and you're destined to play defense and make fruitless basket cuts.
Of course, being that it IS Mother's Day today, I won't be making it out. However, if you guys decide to get together at Spotts Park or whatever throughout the week, let me know. I'm down to go. Oh, and to jcee, you're right. I live right by that 24 (windmill lakes!) and what you say is true. I've been there a handful of times and like you said, it isn't uncommon for you to not get the ball, regardless of whether your shot is falling or not. I've played at Beverly Hills Park (off of Kingspoint, near Fuqua) and it's the exact same way.
Just figured I'd mention that I drove past Spotts Park after working out tonight (it was 10:30-ish) and the lights were still on and probably 8 or 9 people were still shooting around. So I assume any night of the week, it would be similar. I may start going out there around 9 some nights.
Well just found out I have to work tomorrow and Sunday because R2k is a lazy ass. So i won't be able to make it out tomorrow. Maybe sunday. hopefully r2k will not read this
