He is a marginal NBA starter...come on. Don't try so hard RIET...! SF is our deepest position right now, which is often the case wrt your worst starter position. imo, your 4-5th best starter is not worth worrying about vs building a quality bench. We released Posey to concentrate on having one of the worst benches in the league, and you are playing the "but he's our 4th/5th best starter" crap??? Besides, we still aren't done. btw: before you leave for Conn...we need to get your and Batman Jones out for one last night before you guys go "poof."
posey is an average player..good but nothing speical....don't act like he is a freaking allstar..AG is an elite starter as well..with one of the top west teams
DOUBLE G'S!!! The GGGGGGGGGGG UNIT.... Griffin and Griffin at your forward positions. I am optimistic! I agree with the guy who said we are deepest at the 3. We have 4 average small forwards (including EP) who have specialties.. I think we should still resign Juaquin Hawkins!
He is not a marginal NBA starter. Is it his fault that Steve Francis cant lead a fast break? I assumed Van Gundy would instill a different style of offense and incoporate more transition. James Posey was never a set up at the 3 point line and jack up outside shots type of player. That does not diminish his skills. Quitten Pippen didnt fit this offense either but has had good success in Portland because they took advantage of his strengths. I'll get NBA league pass of course.
James Posey is a poor man's Shandon Anderson. Posey's defense wasn't better than SA's and he's got even less in his offensive repertoire. SA is grossly overpaid at 7 millions a year so I don't see it fit to give Posey 6 millions. I like the Griffin addition. Did people forget how AG wowed the NBA in his first year?
No, I want to match JPo because it's the better basketball decision. I want to match JPo because I want to stay ahead of the Grizz -- and a few other West squads. JVG better be able to coach great because his team is not one of the more talented groups in the West.
And having Posey would make us one of the most talented? Give me a break. You seriously overrate Posey.
Keeping Posey make us one of more talented groups in the West??? Sounds like Posey should been voted into last season's all star game. Didn't he make stupid fouls in last second and shoot 1 for 10 in one game? Forget he played dirty and got unnecessary T and totally out of the control? People here are seriously overrated Posey's game especially on the defense end. He is a decent player but no where near a 400-500M guy. I am very happy with Paitkowski, Griffin and half of MLE instead of Posey.
Just what we needed! A guy with heart and guts that can show the attitude just like Mario did. He will be a winner on the Rox.
I am so glad that Posey is gone and the team has made a move to replace him. Posey is not and never will be worth 6 million per year. We need gritty hard nosed players that don't cause us to mortgage the future. This moves is just what we need. I really don't think many FA's would choose to go to Memphis. The main reason he is leaving is because no other team in the league was going to pay him 6 million. And that is the bottom line.
He is??????? Hell, I guess you learn something new everyday Elite is a bit much, talented, maybe even great role player,....................but elite??????? Thats pushin it
I really think some of you should get out of Posey's jockstrap, especially now that's he's gone. He put up numbers with the Nuggets, yes, and some with us, but he will never be a shooter. Now, just be patient. When AG and Pike both go in for mysterious off-season surgeries on the same day, and then, one week later, you are introduced to... Graft Griaftowski, Your head will swim, and we will have a sweet-shooting, D-it-up, take-it-strong unselfish small forward in dramatic two tone. So shut up already.
He was actually pretty darn good his first year with the Celtics. I was consistently a 10 + points / 8+ rebounds guy until he tailed off towards the end of the year.
During games against the Mavs last year, I only remember being annoyed by Griffin... so I am pretty excited. Maybe one of these days we'll have a chance at Najera.
I think sabermetrics are probably much more appropriate for baseball, since there's a lot more emphasis on individual performance rather than how well a team functions as a unit.
What exactly did Jerry West do when he was running the Lakers? Seriously- I can't remember which moves were his. Obviously, he signed Shaq, but I could have signed Shaq as the GM of the Lakers. It's the only place he wanted to go. Getting Kobe was a good move, but Kobe was also holding out to go to LA (or at least a "big market", right?) So what else? Devean George? Derek Fisher? Travis Knight? Mark Madsen? Seriously, I can't remember if any (or all) of those were his moves, or if they were Kupchak's. Could someone please outline the greatness of Jerry West as a GM?
This brought chills down the spine. I want some hard nose take-it-to-um basketball. I want a well disciplined offense and the #1 D. I think we're good to go. When's the deadline to release the FA?
