What hotel on the strip would it compare to? I'm trying to figure out if I want to do something similar, and stay off the strip but in a nice place...maybe get away from the bustle.
what games do you play? there are table games, but tons of slots. i like table games, but i did play some slots. i would compare the amenities and rooms to a bellagio or venetian, but the casino itself to the palms (same stuff, food court, movie theater, tons of slots). the spa was great, but overpriced, everything is hightech since its only a few months old. so i would consider this a 'way off' the strip casino. my favorite 'off strip' casino is hard rock.
Red Rock (and all of the casinos in the Station group) are really slanted towards locals. Most of the Station casinos do not have shows or fancy gimmicks to attract tourists. They are primarily hangouts for the locals (and other tourists that want to try something different). RRC is a real nice facility...everything is new and fresh...but I'm not sure how much there is to do in the immediate area outside the casino/hotel. You might want to check into The Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. It is another Station casino and is very similar to RRC (in the sense that it is designed more as a local hangout). Outside of the casino/hotel is a shopping district with several big name restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, Pei Wei, Elephant Bar, Lucille's BBQ, Claim Jumper (Black Eyed Pea on steroids!!!), Applebees, and a few other that don't come to mind). GVR is located on the 215...so it's a quick hop from GVR over to The Strip. Plus, there's a ton of other places to eat at in Henderson...it's a far nicer place to hang out than LV (with the exception of the big casinos). Hopefully this helps...The Strip and downtown are cool places to see and experience...but there is whole lot more to Vegas than people realize.
I've been there...There is a cool bar there, The Whiskey, similar to the one in Hotel Icon in Houston...Good spot...I'm going back in July, but need to find out where I"m going to stay...Either Golden Nugget or Aladdin...
With my g/f for a wedding...Its a quick trip and we're trying to find reasonable rates, but there is a fight that weekend and everything is expensive...
If your g/f is into shopping, you might want to check out Sunset Station (again, part of the Station Casinos). It is located in an area with a ton of stores (The Galleria...mall) and restaurants. Just a suggestion!
Good, as I've only been in there for about 1/2 an hour and lost $30...Well, its a short weekend as we fly in late Friday night and fly out late Sunday night...We're trying to squeeze in a show as she likes that kind of stuff...I'm in different as I'd rather spend the money gambling or eating out...It can't come soon enough...
