Wasn't his crown jewel a case against a pool manufacturer who installed drains that literally sucked people's intestines out of their bodies?
I don't see BC taking a role in the next Admin as a good thing. Whatever he does, he is always the ex-CiC and prone to executive decisions. Think about how well Jimmy Carter did on his trip to North Korea, speaking sometimes and not others for the Clinton Admin.
Well, the polls are saying Obama/Edwards does really well. Still, I don't see Edwards being a VP nominee twice in four years. Wouldn't surprise and I wouldn't mind it... I just don't think it will happen. Many folks are agitating for Edwards to be AG and clean up Justice. That seems fine, but I think you could find a number of good Dem lawyers who would put the DOJ back on track. I don't think you could find many people who would have the incorruptibility and honesty to deal with the mess the Bushies have made of the Intelligence community. The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see Edwards as Director of National Intelligence. Charge him with giving us an honest accounting of what's happened over the last 8 years, from torture and domestic spying to extraordinary rendition and the political influence on intelligence to habeus corpus and human rights to secret executive orders and signing statements. We need an honest American in that position... one who's not going to fawn over the intelligence community, be intimidated by the intelligence committees, or be co-opted by the intelligence contractors. There is so much that is wrong with the last 8 years that could be identified and fixed by an honest and impartial Director of National Intelligence who had the basic values of this country at heart and a respect for the law and principles that made us what we were.
I haven't voted yet. I think I probably will go with Other, but need to think it through. Until now, I've thought Obama would go with an unexpected pick, which would highlight his change message. Now, I'm not so sure.
An "unexpected" pick would also not surprise me. I could see Obama picking the right person for the job, regardless of the election politics.
I see a pick of Hilary Clinton for VP as fraught with pitfalls. Sounds like the "dream" ticket, but could become the "nightmare" ticket. Especially for Obama; talk about distractions, and many more "anti-voters" will be mobilized. The Republicans who have picked a very weak candidate to start with would likely be thrilled. As screwed up as the Bush administration has been, the "reform" Democratic Congress has been a huge flop. National politics is at a low ebb. Fresh ideas are desperately needed.
Obama can go ahead and throw the "Change" slogan out the window if he picks Hillary as his running mate. To me the one who makes the most sense is Senator Webb from Virginia. He's has great military experience (Sec. of Navy?) and is a staunch anti-war guy. Virginia is in play for Obama, and getting Webb on the ticket could deliver him its 13 delegates on a silver platter.
Joe Bidden. Though, he might be more useful as a "viceroy" for Iraq until we're out. No matter how badly Democrats want out, it won't happen overnight... and will be messy at some point. Logistics alone means it'll take a year at full speed, so we're probably looking at two. Tony Zinni would also be a nice choice, and is my number two choice.
Interesting comparison - especially because the Vinick character was partially designed around McCain.
Well, after McCain 2000 actually. Vinick had little in common with McCain 08. I'm totally undecided on VP now. There are so many great picks.
Anybody but Hillary... as someone said, you don't want to put yourself into a position where your death could give her the presidency.
How much do you trust Howard Fineman? Says two sources in Hillary's camp indicate clearly that she doesn't WANT to be VP - just wants to be asked. She also doesn't want Obama to pick a different woman as his VP, according to Fineman's sources. http://www.newsweek.com/id/139908
