Yep, I'd say that's fairly consistent with the kind of trash Vescey usually gives to the public. He does have his inside sources so when he speaks of a trade rumor, one should listen up. But stick to the rumor mill Vescey. Your Virtual GM skills need much honing if you see Taylor for Croshere as a good trade.
MoT has done it through out his career against first teamers both at Houston and at LA. Plus, outside of Mo's achillies he has not been an injury threat. One last point, MoT's outside shot is very consistent from inside the arc and always has been. I don't think I would want to sacrifice consistency for range.
MO has a great touch from outside, and he has a killer ISO, where he always beats his man with the hook shot.
Unless the injury he suffered a year or two ago took away a lot from his game (and I don't think it did), Austin Croshere isn't the horrible player ya'll make him out to be. But he does suffer from being a tweener, and he is overpaid. We certainly wouldn't give up Taylor for him. Taylor at least fits more of the mold of a 4 (albeit not the best rebounder, but he has improved).
If we could use a frontcourt guy with more rounded skills, we should move Cato to Toronto for Donyell Marshall. That would allow Bosh to play 4 and Jalen to play 3. We'd get a big 3 (or small 4) with interior passing skills that can rebound and score. I'd gladly move Taylor, but I want some passing and rebounding. That's Marshall, not Croshere. I wouldn't NOT make a deal with either Taylor or Cato. A life lived in fear is a life half-lived. Those guys are spare parts for us. They can be replaced. If we can exchange them for a skill that fits Yao better, do it.
This trade is an absolute joke...borderline insulting to my man MoT. The stats are so unbelievably lopsided... Croshere 12.8 MPG, 5.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 0.5 APG, .403 FG% Taylor 27.4 MPG, 11.9 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.3 APG, .484 FG%
btw, Donyell Marshall had 24 rebounds 2/17/04 (last night) v. the hyped bulls front court. New rumor is Sonics were offered Fizer and Crawford for Barry and Vlad Rad. Sonics rejected, asked for Curry or Chandler. Would you trade Taylor to the Sonics for that? I might. Yeah, I sure might. Those two guys are good helper pieces; team guys. We can also effectively exit Taylor's contract if we don't re-sign Barry. That would give us some more room to bring in a highly paid player with the TE this summer. IMHO, Mo T's success this year has come in the role of featured scorer against second units; he doesn't play the team game very well, and he is exposed when playing against starters. I'd like to exit that contract.
If the Rockets are indeed interested in Austin Croshere, there might be something about his defense that is compelling. Maybe he can guard guys like Dirk and Gasol. The same goes for Brad Miller. Brad Miller, Dirk, and Gasol are key players on strong Western Conference playoff teams. They are also young players, so they will be around for a really long time. If the Rockets deal with this defensive mismatch by getting Croshere, I understand. That debacle with Cato starting against the Grizzlies last time should not happen again.
Mo Taylor is a better defender against WC 4s than the light and niot too quick tweener Croshere (which of course reveals more about the latter than the former). This would be a terrible deal, not even a good deal if Indy adds a #1 pick, unless it is someone elses (a worse team) owed to them.
i will not do this trade croshere didn't perform well and has a reputation of disappear in big games and he's inconsistent taylor is much better we don't need him
Really? Even if you gave Croshere 27.4 minutes per game? If we got Croshere, I'd immediately start him at PF, up his minutes to 30 per game, and send Cato to the bench. I'd expect that he concentrate on rebounding and supplemental scoring; which means that he MUST be a mid-range shooting threat and good for put-back points from rebounds. I think he doesn't like coming off the bench behind Jermaine O'Neal. Now, of course JO is better. But this is an effort problem on Croshere. He needs to be challenged. Not wasting on the bench. He can play better. I think that everyone agrees that we NEED a replacement for our PF spot. It still a weak area ever since we lost Eddie (a wasted 7th pick). Sure, his D is good. But not at the expense of a bad offensive game. At least be a balanced player. Lets not get tricked into believing that alley-oops are part of Cato's "offensive repitwa." We can get anyone to receive alley-oops from Francis. If not Croshere, then Rasheed Wallace or Chis Bosh. Someone! Just not Cato. Our offesnive is weak enough. We don't need a guy shooting air-balls in the play-offs.
