Wasn't Vecsey a whole year off on when he said the JVG was leaving the Knicks? I mean if I report that who ever the rockets hire as the new coach is going to leave the team I will eventually be right too. If I am not right the season I report it, then the report has little credibility.

What is there to gain for JVG by disputing the manner of firing? If he really wanted to retire then why not just say so and take the consulting job or go calmly into the sunset? Certainly saying it was mutual would not hurt him in any way. If anything disputing the manner of firing would hurt him in his next stop, especially if it were proven to be false some how. I mean who thinks that bashing your last employer who fired you would gain you sympathy at a job interview?

That's the way I see it. IMO, Vescey is one of the least credible sports writers in America. He stays relevant by making outlandish claims and being right 10% of the time. You may as well read a tabloid article about a 100 year-old three-headed monkey in Burma that smokes mar1juana.

Vescey obviously has it in for JVG also, so he's not going to spin anything involving JVG in a possitive light. ON the other hand the crap that Justice wrote in the Chronicle how poor JVG is a victim and how Les vicitmized him was bull corn.

JVG has said it himself: the NBA is a results oriented business and no matter how you spin it, JVG failed to get his team out of the 1st round in four years of trying.

Richard Justice is close to hopeless, both on the radio and in the newspaper. In a MUCH different way than Vecsey, his columns and commentary are usually agenda driven. There is no victim in any of this except Rockets fans, who had their intelligence insulted by Les. Anyone that thinks JVG is a victim needs their head examined. I'd like to be a $20MM/4yrs victim.

If I remember correctly, Jon Barry corroborated Vescey’s rumor before a broadcast during the playoffs. He said something about how Van Gundy was contemplating retirement last summer. So I wouldn’t say Vescey was retirement rumor was 100% made up.

Like I said, I wouldnt doubt if the nyposts Vercey is JVGs little media outlet biatch (as the Houston Chronicle is the Rockets suck up spin doctor). The tension between JVG and Les has been there for years. I know this firsthand as a good friend of mine has witnessed Les chew JVG a new one multiple times.

    GAME 7 LOSS

    Les: 'thats it...YOUR FIRED!'

JVG: You cant fire me! I QUIT!

JVG Picks up cell phone: 'Tell Vercey Im retiring'

Morey to Les: 'wtf are we to do now?'

The whole thing was mishandled from the start.
But this shouldnt suprise you, its typical Rockets front office
(i.e. Dream Trade, Rudy's *cough* illness, and Calvins departure)

What would Jeff do? He can't stand youth and inexperience so how could he survive in a High school atmosphere? You think he would start cutting the high schoolers and bringing in some ex Knicks like ward and Oakley?

Didn't JVG admit he wasn't unsure when the season ended?

it's funny how people pick and choose when to actually believe in vescey reporting.

    Okay, wait a minute.

    Vecsy says,
Then he gives us "facts" based on what he says he knows. So, let me get this straight: JVG's quoted word is not good enough, but Peter "I Literally Look Like a Penis" Vecsey's quoted word is good enough? I see.

Look, Vecsey clearly holds a grudge against JVG and is trying to take an opportunity to sound off on him. See here...
I'm not taking up up for JVG. Apparently, he promised Vecsy a story but ended up shafting him. But that doesn't mean Vecsy knows something here.

Besides, JVG is officially gone. Let's move on.
