Doc mentioned something about him and Clutch talking about something and they would tell us sooner or later.

I guess people here assumed that the Nene deal might have been what Doc was going to tell us, but nobody knows whats up for sure.

Nene is a physical big body who we can throw in there to help yao out . right now the Rox most glaring Weakness is just that, a big body who can play defense.

Just for fun -- I'd take the thorn of Rose + the fan (sic) of Sam (Rafer, of course) -- for Mo, Spoon, and Lue. Toronto saves gobs of bucks.

Some more fun -- Nene's guns mean Rodney and his guns? At least RW's guns shoot. (Boki was behind Skita, both played for D'Antoni.)

We would be crazy not to do both of those trades if we actually had the chance.

Rose is a solid player who can play three positions, is a solid defender, and a good offensive player.

Nene is buried in Denver but he does have value. Just adding someone who can bang and enforce (ala Spoon but young, bigger, faster) would help out Yao.

Mo needs to go and Howard can provide the same game he gives us. We would miss Deke and we would miss JJ. But Rose, White and Nene would be important parts of our rotation without doubt.

Hmm...I proposed a similar trade regarding Jalen Rose and got laughed at. Now everybody is supporting the trade for Rose. Damn fickle people! :D

Can't see Denver trading Nene to us for our chump change. Unless Doc or Clutch confirm, I don't buy it. Love to see it happen though.

Taylor for Rose I could see. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I remember the rumor at the end of the season that Francis might be traded for Rose. JAG really liked Rose. Too bad we can't get Marshall too.

that's my hope too, if we could land Donyell as well it would be nice, although undersized he rebounds and defends well and plays hard

Well Nene has underpeformed a bit this year and has been a little banged up. They also have Camby and K-mart so he doenst get the mins he should up there. Additionally they need a shooter and JJ and even Boki (assuming he keeps up his shooting from 3 pt range) could really help them out.

The only thing i dont understand is why they would rather trade Nene and not Camby. Camby is much older and has been very injury prone. I would think they would want to keep a young guy like Nene.

Can we trade Juwan for someone who can board and play defense.. Earl Boykins?

Nene is supposedly in the doghouse.

I think someone mentioned he was considered a cancer on the team

    It's Vescey, so I don't know.

But I'll take anything we can get, but I hope we don't make a deal for a big man w/o giving one up. One of atleast Taylor or Howard need to go.

I like the first one, but I would miss Boki (speaking of which, is he still on the IR? I hate seein our best 3pt shooter sitting on the IR)

I don't like the 2nd one. I am liking what Deke brings to the floor.

I like both deals on paper, but the only concern is that if Jackson really is the Rockets' leader and we are trading for at least two tumors, then we might have an even worse leadership void. At this point, a trade for more talent is worth the risk, though.

I'm not really familiar with Nene's game so I don't really have an opinion on him, i just know that he gets labled as having lots of that special little word...."potential". Another guy who has been discussed at lenght on this board as having potential is Chandler.

So i ask this, who has the most upside Chandler or Nene? Who would be a better fit for this team and a compliment to Yao's game, Chandler (from what i read on this board can rebound but may have strength issues, and may be too finesse with no offense), or Nene (a banger type PF who we can mold into a compliment for Yao, and who hasn't really been given as much of a chance in the league but is still young) ?

Who do you pick assuming you could make the upgrade without giving up too much? Who would be reasonably attainable? Thoughts?

    i'd do both.

jj is a nice player (especially for the contract), but he means nothing for our future. he's old and getting older. since he's one of the few guys with any sort of value, you might as well use it instead of just let him go at the end of his contract. of course, nene isn't the bruising rebounder people projected him to be (otherwise they aren't dealing him for jj), and also isn't a great shotblocker but he has to be better than what we've got and at the very least he's young potential. you figure he'll at least have some value as well.

losing boki? eh. getting rid of a guy just b/c jvg doesn't like him isn't good for two reasons:

    1. jvg is stupid

    2. jvg may not even be here after a while

but in boki's case i don't have the fetish with him most do. maybe he'll make me look stupid and take the nba by storm when he leaves it but i'm not betting on it. so some sort of inside presence at PF would be nice. even if he doesn't rebound well he can't be as soft as our 2 are right now.

rodney white can shoot sometimes, but he does seem to like to shoot a lot so i wonder how that would work.

as for trading mo. jalen's contract is the same length (and even bigger meaning we're taking on salary after mutombo's contract ends in a year) but jalen is actually pretty good. losing deke hurts but jalen has a sweet mid range stroke and is a pretty good passer when i watch him. plus he's usually pretty clutch. his expiring contract in 2 years could actually be pretty valuable since it's so large.

so these two trades would seem to strengthen the starting lineup but deplete our already pathetic depth even further. if we know how to use a trade exception (and we better use it), the MLE, and a mid-1st round draft pick, all of that could be fixed in one offseason through. a PG with the mle, a solid rebounder/defender with no offensive game with the TE, and some sort of backup guard from the draft. lets hope we know how to use it.

but this is vecsey so why get my hopes up.

if we did do they trade I still wonder would they bring a losing mentality to the team.I know we are not doing that well right now and that would make us alil more athletic, but I think we have to be carefull of the people we bring in this organiztion .dont want to wind up like the bulls post jordan era.

and to think i didn't want to start my own thread with this rumor because i thought it would be flamed as a mere vescey rumor. now its 4 pages and growing with a 5 star rating...i mean just for a vescey rumor?

its hard to believe that we are so starved for anything at this point.

lets all pray for the nene deal to come to fruition. what a steal that would be.

    nuggets notes

No signings, trades appear on horizon

    By Adam Thompson
    Denver Post Staff Writer

Philadelphia - One avenue for the Nuggets to make a personnel move opens today, but another closes shortly.

Today marks the first day NBA teams may trade players signed during this offseason. The Nuggets also have until Dec. 22 to utilize a $1.6 million salary cap exception the NBA granted after they appeared to lose Voshon Lenard for the regular season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Denver can acquire a player who makes $1.6 million or less without giving up more than a draft pick, something they normally would not be free to do since they are over the salary cap. They may also sign a player for that amount or less. But general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said Tuesday he has not talked with free agents lately and that no trades are imminent.

Asked if he expects to use the exception, Vandeweghe said, "I'd like to be able to, but obviously you don't want to do something just to do it."

The GM listed no names, but Charlotte's Jason Kapono, Golden State's Calbert Cheaney, Miami's Wesley Person and Phoenix's Casey Jacobson are among guards whose salaries could fit into the temporarily available slot. The Nuggets had conversations with Cheaney and had talked to the Suns about Jacobson during the offseason.

    No Nene vs. Philly
A right hip contusion kept Nene from playing Tuesday in the Nuggets' loss. Coach Jeff Bzdelik said he doubted the forward needs a trip to the injured list.

"It's not like a hamstring where you've got to worry about re-injuring it," said trainer Jim Gillen, referring to another injury Nene suffered this season.

Asked if he might return to play in Boston tonight, Nene first replied, "No," then, "I don't know."

"I've got a lot of trouble to walk, to sit," said Nene, who hurt the hip after taking a shot from New York forward Michael Sweetney on Sunday during Denver's loss to the Knicks. "I can't sleep in the first night (after it happened.)
