The Rockets are under the cap for the foreseable future. Regardless of whether its Jalen or Mo, the amount of cap space they'll have to sign big name players in the upcoming offseasons is the same: nada. They will have the exceptions. On the other hand, you never really get to fiscal responsibility unless you start somewhere. The problem is the Rockets suck and could really use a shake-up.
[ C Dikembe Mutombo to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for SG/SF Jalen Rose, who they said, again according to "inside sources" close to the Raptors organization "will be traded soon". Could this be true, and has anyone else heard this? Thoughts? [/B][/QUOTE] Vecsey's is an idiot, has probably one correct prediction out of 50. Who do you think will be the back up center?
Anyway to get Nene, he would seem the perfect complimant to Yao. Big enforcer type (like Cato). Doc or Clutch, is this the news from xiki's old post? Please say it is so!
the Nene rebounding numbers do scare me, for a guy who appears so agressive 6.5 rebounds a game is very strange could Nugs4 chime in with his take on Nene i don't mind either trade Rose would certainly help our scoring and could also help run the point if we wanted to go big the Key for me, is Does Nene help with our interior defense and rebounding
The Toronto Sun says Jalen Rose may be headed to the Knicks, along with Vince Carter: http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/Sports/2004/12/14/781739-sun.html
These both sound pretty damn good to me... ...and I ask, is there anything more pathetic than hoping against hope that Peter freakin' Vescey is actually right? Now that you mention it... I don't mean to be an ass here, but that was a horrible tease. Care to let slip what's up Doc? Or at least what you thought was up at the time? Pretty please?
About a week ago, Doc posted something about how he & Clutch talked about some things in which Clutch was going to relay the info to us at some time. It was in a thread about possibly getting Eddie House.
I would miss Boki but I am open-armed welcoming Rodney White. Nene would be a potentially great fit, but we would miss Deke...
hoopshype's scouting report on him does mention his weakness at rebound positioning. With his athletic and physical abilities, this should be something that could be taught. Also, he is surrounded by good rebounders which could have attributed to his low number. Last season alone, Camby averaged 10, Carmelo 6 & Miller 4.5. As much as we all wonder about JVG, he did bring out the best in Cato last season. We all looked at Cato as a black-hole on the roster before last year as he was a complete underachiever. I think Nene could excel in JVG's system.
I went to the Nuggets' realgm board. Someone posted this rumor and they responded with "Houston has nothing outside of Yao & Tmac that could get Nene." The whole thread became an argument of whether they would trade Nene for one of our stars at all and would Yao or TMac could even help thier team. lol!! Just thought it was amusing. I think it is funny they think Nene has that much value as to land an allstar in return.
Boy, it's hard for me to see them trading JJ. He is Van Gundy's little pet. Those trades won't do a whole lot for Van Gundy's personna as being loyal to his players, especially if we continue our losing ways. However, I think I would be willing to try to do both those deals. What else could we possibly get for MoT? Absolutely nothing. Nobody wants him. So, if we don't get Jalen, then we would probably end up having to buy him out and eat that money anyways. Why not take a chance on Jalen and seeing if we develop chemistry with Jalen and then if we don't, we ship him back out for some other trash or buy him out like we would have had to do with Mo? I can still remember listening to 610 the day that the Rockets announced the signing of Mo's contract. Can't remember who it was that was on at the time, maybe Kenny Hand, but they said the Rockets are gonna regret that contract, wait and see. They were so right. If we did these deals, we may still have our draft pick, the TE, and the MLE to still step this team up this offseason. How about adding Daniels to TMac, Jalen, Yao, and Nene? Then you got Sura, Barrett, Juwon, and White off the bench. White is an excellent shooter, very streaky. I would be willing to give up Boki if we add a player like White who can knock 'em down from the parking lot when he gets hot. Also, Jalen is an underrated shooter. He's got a nice baseline jumper from about 18 feet out to the 3 line. He's not necessarily a 3 point shooter but he has range outside the paint out to 3 land. My best hope for Jalen would be for him to go back to playing like he did at Michigan. He was an excellent playmaker, great floor vision, and good passer. I think him in the lineup with TMac, mixing up the playmaking and looking for mismatches, etc. could be a potentially explosive combination. I'd do both deals. I just can't believe Toronto would do that deal and I can't believe that Van Gundy would let his little pet player go off to Denver.
