oh please let this be true! im a fan of jj and its sad if we have to let him go but if thats what it takes to land us a pf who bangs (finally), then im really up to it! man, i really wish so bad we can make this trade coz im a fan of nene too. and if ever the rumors is true for rose for mo + fillers, then this will be a very good lineup.. just imagine... yao/deke/nene nene/howard tmac/white rose/tmac/sura sura/ward/lue/barrett thats a good all around basketball team. yao and nene will handle the front court while tmac and rose will handle all the back court offense responsibilities.. oh cd, make this work.. please, for rockets fans sake.. and since your up to it, fire jvg too..
"I doubt any of these trade rumors is going to help the team as long as JVG is the head coach. Maybe a Sprewell-type player can help and choke JVG for us..." oh come on have some faith, at least the rox is trying to change the roster up. who knows what will happen with some new players?
here is the site I found - it says Rose is paid a LOT more. but comes off the books sooner (maybe there is a player option for 05, but Mo is still an 07 guy, so his is one year longer) http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/contracts
I think both these trades would improve our team a great deal, especially if they both occur. The first deal i would really really really want, as I think it would help out our team drastically. We need a physical, athletic, bruising PF like nene on our team. He compliements yao very well. The second trade makes up for there being a lack of a third scorer. I remember rose once played on a very good indiana team that went all the way to the finals. As long as rose can hit the open three, he's good. I really hope both these trades go through! I dont know how reliable they are, but I do know that if they both do occur, our team will be greatly improved by them.
Well I had faith up till the first few games of the season. There have been enough roster changes and you've also seen proven scorer(s) not scoring under his system. How can you trust his trade decision with all these disappointing facts?
let me respectfully ask, what the hell has Boki done? what is ts love for Boki, Its all over this board Boki this Boki that, youd think he is the next coming of Jordan the way people talk about him.....DO this trade people, the rox are going NOWHERE the way they are now. Take a page from the suns....if things aren't working shake it up and move t around. just my opinion not trying to disrespect you
It says "Jalen Rose ............ 8/2/00 7 $92.88 million p-opt '05". I read that as he has a buyout option after this season (unlikely he actually buys out of this deal). So it looks like he signed a 7 yr deal in 2000 meaning his contract doesnt end till 2007 (like Mo's contract). I would still do the deal. We need more scoring help and he is still a decent 3 point shooter (34.8 % this season).
I think getting Nene is highly unlikely. The Rose for Mo trade is somewhat likely if the Raptors are afraid that Marshall will walk off as a free agent. I would go ahead with both "trades".
the Nene' trade does nothing to help our team. Nene' does not rebound and has a very limited offensive game. I might be willing to take a chance on him to see if he can grow into an NBA player but at this point he is still a huge project.
My first thought looking at the Toronto deal was losing Deke. But, he hasn't really played all that much this season. There are games he gets just a couple of minutes, or none at all, while JVG goes smaller to match up with the opposition. I'm surprised that Toronto doesn't want a SG/SF back, but maybe they have something planned in a possible Carter trade (ie: Tim Thomas). If both go down, Nene can more than make up Deke's loss especially since he can play both in big or small lineups unlike Deke. From the moment Lenard went down for Denver and rumors started about them shopping Nene for a replacement, I thought of JJ. He is a cheap, all-around good veteran for a good, young team. If these rumors are indeed true, I wonder if the Rockets are not as concerned about PG like we are.
I wouldn't go quite this far, but his value does seem to be somewhat inflated on this board. He's only played in 12 of 20 games this year and when he plays, his minutes are limited. He has seriously regressed. Plus, he's regressing from potential, not results. 12 ppg, 6.5 rpg in 32 minutes last year. Not exactly stellar All that said, theoretically, when healthy and happy, he still looks like a 15 ppg, 8-9 rpg type PF, which is clearly better than what we have now. I can't see the Rockets doing this deal first, though. It would give us 5 PF's an no SF's.
Too bad this is all a pipe dream...there is almost zero chance this will happen..but at least someone realizes that part of the rockets' problem is an insance shortage of younger talent. We need to move some of the old bodies off this team and replace them with fresh legs. Veteren leadership was only at a premium when cat and francis were in town. Now we have players with a higher basketball IQ surrounded by players woefully past their prime or that will never be that good to begin with. With that said..i still dont believe either one of these deals gets done..but its the correct school of thought.
I don't think that Nene is capable of helping this team more this year than JJ. However, if you have lost hope for this year (as many people on this board appear to be), you should consider taking two young players who may actually pan out (cough Nachbar cough) for JJ. I don't know about Jalen Rose. He has a maximum contract that runs two more years after this season. I don't think that the Rockets can afford to have three max players on one team (albeit just for one year).
