Yeah, I want NOTHING to do with LB....he and JVG are on my NEVER EVER EVER EVER hires...

They try to win now and destroy the franchises when they ultimatly quit on them.

At least Rudy tried to rebuild and didn't bail when his stars retired.

I think that is the one situation where a STRONG GM refused to back down to LB and ultimatly that is good work by Joe Dumars.

I am sure this has been posted in here but just in case!

    'Agreeing' To Leave?
May 9 - Jeff Van Gundy will be out as Rockets head coach by the early part of next week, if not the end of this week.
Rest assured the Rockets will call it a mutual decision or something of that sort. The front-office team and maybe even Van Gundy will stand together, smiling, talking about moving in another direction.

It will be one big happy grip-and-grin on the way to other things. Certainly, Van Gundy's moving on will please some Rockets fans and anger others, but that's not the point.

The point is, Van Gundy's "agreeing" to pass on a contract extension, which is how this all figures to be framed, should make sense to no one. -- Houston Chronicle

If it's true it'll be the best news in the off-season. We can finally move on and the Rockets can move forward. Hopefully Grumpy's hefty severance package (which ought to be paid by his lovers on this board) won't place too much of a financial burden on the franchise.

the best offseason news will be getting a couple of other good players. coaching is not at the top of the list for needs.

It's NO GOOD getting new players if the coach can't use them to the best of their abilities. Just like he cant use V Span or Steve Novac, he won't even train them to be part of the team. we have gone through the Win Now Scenario and it has failed, now we move on to the next era. :p

ESPN Insider Chris Sheridan reported this same thing on his chat last night. I believe it is true.

My San Antonio colleague, we do not have to abandon the "win now" philosphy. Getting rid of JVG is merely the first step to a newer, brighter tomorrow. It will be difficult but not impossible. Look at how Denver and Golden State became competitive overnight. We need a masterful performance by Mr. Moneyball, but all we need is speed and someone to give our Rockets a boost.

dude, stop with the vpsan and novak as our "good players". iots completely ridiculous. you are guessing, bottom line. Maybe they will be good, maybe not...they certainly werent that good this year. such a bad argument yet people keep repeating it.

This is an excellent post friend. We just need a little help-player wise to reach the next level.

Donkey, Donkey, Donkey-we will never know because your coach would not even play them in scrub minutes- never. That iron headed philosophy brings us to the off season not knowing what they can do. Not even limited scrub minutes did they get.........

Stro was extra exposed under JVG...anywhere else he would have done a bit better, not a lot, but enough to stay more than a year

I would say in JVG terms 'Stromile Swift wasn't programmed correctly'

dont give me that "your coach" crap. Im a rockets fan and if a team has a good coach why bother changing when there are more serious needs in talented and PROVEN players. Are you honestly going to be such a homer that you cant recognize that hayes/howard combo at PF wont work? they arent big, athletic, or versatile enough especially when you consider yaos limitations. Next, rafer is a solid pg but he needs to split his time and if you really want a contending team that player will need to be one with experience and a scoring threat. Maybe that will be billy in a few years but expecting that now is just unreasonable. Third, when you best bench player in a one dimensional 40+ year old and a undersized sg who cant handle the ball then you are in trouble.

putting faith in unproven players over a proven coach isnt a very sound decision. May it work? sure, there is always a chance. But its a big gamble and i think thats an obvious point.

if i want to improve a team i look at its weaknesses. And talented, PROVEN, players on the weakness list much higher than coaching.
