Wow, what a difference a morning makes. I can't believe this might be true. What a turn of events in the past 24 hrs. I was a little skeptical of his use of rookies and what seemed to be a predictable offense, but he helped make this team the 4th best the West (which also means 4th best in the NBA) despite the injuries and drama. Got to love that JVG ponied up the money to create the Red Rowdies section too.

I like the Adleman idea. He has a more free flowing offense, but I hope we always maintain our defensive prowess. I'd like to see Tmac get a little more free reign (instead of passing into Yao in the post every single possession) and maybe we'll make a little more use of Yao's mid-range jump shot. Yao is probably our 2nd best jump shooter w/in the 3 pt. line.

I want Adelman. Look at how well Brad Miller and Bibby performed under him, and look what they are doing now.

That's the only coaching candidate out there I am even remotely interested in. Otherwise, anyone else is a downgrade from JVG, whether you like him or hate him.

So you're defending Vescey? Jesus. People dislike him because he makes **** up. People dislike him because he has the basketball acumen of a mollusk. Being "off" would imply that he's usually 'on." His "off" is really his "normal." Vescey sucks and anybody who disagrees with that needs to go to an A.A. meeting stat.

If Adelman is not available, I'd consider giving Rudy another try if he can put his heart and mind into it.

Seems like Van Gundy got tired of dealing with.. of all people.. the owner. Yahoo Sports reports that Van Gundy was offered extensions back in February but refused to discuss it until end of season.

Honestly, I just hope Les Alexander has the good sense to hire a good, credible coach like Adelman, Van Gundy or even Brown rather than going the way of the Maloofs-- we all see what happened to that team when they lost a decent coach who got unfair blames and tried to find some new and exciting replacement.

JVG has said that he found out he was going to be the Knicks head coach when Vecsey wrote about it. They just regurgitated that on ESPN about an hour ago.

I hate Vecsey too, but he does seem to know about the NY guys.

If Smith, then trade Yao first because he didn't know how to use Yao.

Bingo -- Yao doesn't like banging under the basket anyways so let him play a style like Miller.

If it is true I would love to see Rudy as head coach and Mario as an assistant.

We all know that Yao loves Rudy. I think he would also work well with Shane Battier, and T-mac. I also think he could get a lot out of a player like Chuck Hayes. Just look at what he got out of Mario, Charles Jones, Chucky Brown, and Mark Bryant. At this stage in Yao's development, I think Rudy would be able to utilize him in a number of ways to capitalize on Yao's strengths.

I don't know if Rudy wants the stress, or if he is up it would be best for his health.

But if JVG leaves(I hope he doesn't) I prefer to let Rudy work with these players.

That's the way to do it Jeff. You're a true gentleman and a true leader. Leader always takes the blame no matter what. Just like a captain of the ship, he goes with it when it sinks.

Let me start off by saying that JVG is a very solid coach. The man really goes to bat for his players.

With that being said, I'm not sure if he is the right coach for this team because our two stars biggest assets are their offensive capabilities. When you have T-Mac and Yao on your team there isn't any excuse to struggle offensively like we do, have such predictable plays, rarely get easy baskets, etc. In most cases, coaches design systems to maximize their players biggest strengths, and hide their weaknesses. Can anyone say that Jeff does that?

Jeff is a defensive coach. We lost the last two series because we couldn't stop others from executing offensively. I realize he didn't have the right personnell to dominate defensively....but you hav to work with what you have. That's what coaches do.

I would like to see us get a proven coach that has a track record of coming up with good offensive schemes. Maybe now is the time for a change. Three first round exits is not getting it done. Coaching changes worked for the Lakers, Bulls, Lakers again, Pistons, Spurs and mavs (well, to get to the Finals at least).

If Dolan wants JVG fine, maybe this will help us get Steve Francis and buying out his contract. We can make the money work out somehow. Behind the scenes deal.

I may be in minority in here, but I would like JVG to get a chance one more year with healthy Yao and T-Mac for the whole regular season. I think overall talent wise, our team was not as good as the Jazz, Suns, Mavs, and Spurs. I would think JVG would also like to get a chance to redeem himself.

If JVG does decide to step down, then I am all for getting Rick Adleman or Phil Jackson (if we can somehow get him).

One name that popped into my head just now... don't know if it's been mentioned:

    Tom Thibodeau.

    What do you think?

^^ It wouldn't be much of a coaching change if you replace Jeff with his assistant.

It was when we replaced Don Channey with his assistant coach Rudy T.
