thing with carter is he's got quality and quantity ... you take his best dunks and they stack up against anybody, sure some people may have 3 or 4 dunks as good as his best 3 or 4, but when you look at his best 100 or 200 dunks there's nobody who has that many great dunks ...

Agreed completely. I just don't see how any sane-minded person can think that there's ever been a better dunker in the history of the game.

    Awesome compilation.

james white has the potential (the big P-word) to top vc as far as pure dunking ability, if (big IF) he can ever get out of the NBDL long enough to get an invite to an allstar game. (i'm not holding my breath)

the fact that vc can dunk like he does IN GAME, IN TRAFFIC, while also having game BESIDES just dunking makes it no contest in terms of who is more impressive. james white is a one trick pony, a sideshow. i wanted to see JW light up the dunk contest this year, but he let me down. he's a nobody. i'm off his bandwagon. (for now)

Haven't seen that video in forever. Anyone know what that instrumental song in the very beginning is called?

I can watch that video all day. But the dunk about the 4:23 mark is un-fricking-believable. He goes up, has the ball cocked for a power jam against the Clippers big man. Then he pulls it in, goes under the goal, and reverse dunks it on the other side. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it was physically possible.

Also, hearing Vitale go crazy at the 4:15 mark is the perfect summary of my feelings when watching Carter.

I really wonder.....what if carter entered the nba a few years earlier and faced up against MJ in the slam dunk contest, who would win that?
That might be the best dunk contest ever....imagine MJ against carter

I never was that impressed with jordan's dunks.. erving was good not on the same level as vince... if anyone can match vince.. it dominique. especially.. in game dunks.. not a/s game or dunk contest.

man. i know you're entitled to your opinion but... the man has everything: 360s, off the backboard, alley-oops, tomahawks, reverse, two-handed... sure, the windmill is easiest in-game and in-traffic.. but he's not lebron here...

there's always a negative with anything.

Bingo, no one and I mean no one except Nique can come close to the type of power that Vince has.

it's one thing to be able to dunk and even do really unique dunks but its another to be able to dunk with the type of ferocity and power that VC does. Dominique Wilkins is the only guy who comes close to replicating that but I think VC outdid him during his years in Toronto.

Amen to that. My all-time best dunkers list goes something like this:

    1. Vince
    2. 'Nique
    3. Other people

If you really bothered me for a third, I would probably go with Kemp or Jordan. Kemp gets mad, mad props just for the Lister Blister. That was just stupid cool.

Of course, Jordan probably wins for twisting-insane-layup-prettiness, but that's another story entirely.

Jason Richardson had better dunks in the Dunk Contest. But, yeah, Vince wins in-game.

VC's 2000 dunk contest performance was maybe the greatest display in a dunk contest ever. There's no way that what J-Rich did in the '03 or '04 contests is better. J-Rich was impressive, but not that impresive. You can't be serious.

Kobe Bryant is a pretty awesome dunker in his own right - Usually not as vicious, but he throws some nasty ones...Since McGrady doesn't dunk as often as he used to, Bryant is probably the best in-game dunker these days after VC (other than the one-trick ponies)
