Highlights don't mean ****. Let's get some highlight film of you and see what you can do. You will look like **** and if you look like NBA material than that would be a positive. How can you make that a negative. And don't say have a problem understanding you. It is clear you don't think much of Vspan. So just say it and quit being a b****. Enough with your stupid logic it doesn't mean ****. It is okay to express an opinion so let me express mine. Please SHUTUP!
You may express your opinion. Telling someone to 'SHUTUP' doesn't fall into domain of expressing an opinion. This is a public forum and you've got no right say other ppl what to do, especially since you're not a mod/admin. Have a nice day. P.S. Looking forward to seeing Papaloukas & Diamantidis in the NBA.
Diamantidis and Papaloukas are athletic, high5/aka wardjm simply hates the NBA and when he writes negative things about greek players he means it as a compliment (go figure). As for why Spanoulis is in the NBA and why these other guys are not? Well first of all Spanoulis wanted to play in the NBA. Diamantidis who is the best PG in Europe doesn't want to leave Greece. Papaloukas who was Greece's MVP last summer at the European Championship (that Greece won btw beating Germany in the final) and who also was CSKA's MVP this year (CSKA btw won the european championship) had some offers this summer but they were 60% of what CSKA offered him, so he signed another 3 year contract with the Russians. Something else that needs to be considered is that the money that european clubs offer do not inculde taxes, while in the NBA, players have to give 40% of their salary to taxes. There is also Nikos Zisis, who was Greece's leading scorer last summer, who was voted best young european player (Bargnani was the best young player this year and he was drafted no. 1) and was also Benetton Treviso's best player (Bargnani played for Benetton too and they were actually best friends and roommates). Why was Zisis not drafted? The year he was eligible he was playing in the greek play-offs so NBA never had the chance to take a close look at him. Also, like most greek players, he is very humble and never declared for the draft or made any attempts (like hiring an NBA agent) to be noticed. Spanoulis is also a very good player and he just had a fantastic season in Panathinaikos. He was in the All-Euroleague team, and he was second in votes for the MVP of the greek league after Diamantidis. The only thing I worry about is that it has been some years since he last played at the point, which is where the Rockets want to play him, but he has PG insticts so I think he will do well. I think Van Gundhi will bring Spanoulis and Head off the bench when he needs to make some runs and some stronger defense. Personally, I wouldn't worry about Kill Bill because he's a very good kid, with a great work-ethic.
Man......after 2 team practices in the same day, right before their game with Germany, Yao Ming went to watch the Greece versus Australia game. Is he trying to study and learn more about Spanoulis game and playing style so as to be able to gel with him quicker when they rejoin the Houston Rockets after the World Championship ?
BOX SCORES Greece lost to France 72 ~ 68 today in FIBA Stankovic Continental Champion Cup tournament in Nanjing. Spanoulis played 24 minutes, scored 9 points (2/6 FG% 1/3 3-pointer% 4/6 FT%), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 fouls, 3 turnovers.
I think JVG plays whatever players he feels will most likely win the game they are currently playing. This season, I expect JL3, V-Span, Hayes, and even Novak to see substantial playing time.
thats cool yao went to go see the game, it speaks volumes about the type of teammate he is (not that we already didnt know that) but about v-span never seen him play i dont like watching a highlight reel mix to determine if he is good (heck how else did kandi get picked first over bibby, carter, jamison, pierce and dirk?) one thing about the pictures though he does seem to have a cocky smugness look to his face. not in a bad way but like a swagger that was missing. i dont think he'll do much in his first two years in the league some spot minutes here and there (a la beno udrich) but i think he'll be the fan favorite
The following is an interview of Vassilis Spanoulis by Basketball Pioneer a few days ago. It just appeared today on sina.com.
