will Vspan be this or can he do that...

what do we have to lose with all these new guys...

maybe they turn out to be superstars maybe they turn out to be bust...

we had to make changes... did anyone want to see us field the same team we had last year again this year????

I think it became obvious... that no big name F/A(not that there were many) wanted to come to this team...this year...

lets hope we can make them all pay

The quote above was taken from the front page article written by Clutch. Is it just me or is anybody else worried about this. I hope Van Gundy will make a good effort to give him some time to play and develop. Even if true, I'm happy at least the Rockets are pick up guys the like and not necessarily Van Gundy players.

It seems even the smaller fish are turning their noses up at the Rockets. You don't have to look hard to see that the team's management is the reason. Free Agents of the past flocked to Houston to play with Dream and to be coached by Rudy, but that's in the past now.

We have one of the best one two punches in the league with Yao and T-Mac and players are still saying no to the Rockets. The Rockets need a PR face lift real bad.

I've seen 4 games of him. I saw a first step looking better cause the defender's feet were stuck in cement. I didn't see a blow-by. I like his passing ability and his physical build, they are NBA-ready.

That sounds about right actually. He doesn't look like he has great speed -- his first step is more deceptive than quick. That's been my assessment of him.

I think it's poor translation. Chinese don't call 10,000 ten-thousands, they have a word called "wan" for it. So for English 240,000 it's actually 24 "wan", but I think they misunderstand it and wrote 240 "wan", which is 2.4M. The 2.4M (which I think now it's 240K) is in GBP not EUR, so it's about 442K USD. Which is close to the 400K-500K buyout in Spanoulis interview.

I would label MJ as a good FA choice, but smaller targets like Flip Murray and Marcus Banks are going to teams like the Suns and the Pistons. These are guys you figure the Rockets should be able to land.

I mean which big time FA flocked to HOU in Rudy T's days?

I'm not so sure. This is what Dennis Lindsey said back in January:

It sounds to me like Jeff was just playing the realist/pessimist with his comments. If Vassilis is the real deal and can be productive on the NBA floor, he will get minutes. Expect him to see very limited time at first, and I think there will be some sort of competition between him and JLIII for the position of primary backup point (although Vassilis is a combo, so he could also be a backup 2 guard).

You forget Head. Head is also a combo guard. I am sure he will get minutes over V-Span and JL3 simply because he has good stats in NBA games.

If nothing else... we got a guy we a sweet name! Hopefully he'll turn out to be a Ginobili type player. Hard nosed and fearless. We could use a guy like that for sure!

I feel really good about this deal. From watching that video he just seems to have that aura about him that makes me think he will suceed in the NBA and be a solid player at the worst. I never really felt that with Boki. He just didn't seem to have confidence in himself.
