I would try and spend the rest of the $3.5M on a guy like Trevor Ariza and try to get even more athletic or go after Cato.

Are we getting JLIII for the league minimum???? I hope so but I kinda doubt it if he chose us over Phoenix. It would seem that if he gets anything over the minimum that his salary has to come out of the MLE too, doesn't it?

Lucas will probably get 500,000 at the most and yes that will be coming out of the MLE. So we technically would have a little over 3 million to spend in FA.

The offseason is getting better and better. We are due some luck on a Euro. Has any team been worse with Euros? Now we need a big guy. How about Badianne? :p

Sorry, I meant to add to my post that the maximum a team can spend on a buyout is $400,000. If the player's buy-out is more, then the additional money must be payed out of the player's own pocket.

VSpan's buyout is $400,000 as stated in an interview with him. I don't have the link but it floats around this bb a lot.

Utter trash. This guy has no idea what he's talking about. You can't use MLE money to pay for a buyout. You can only spend it on salaries. NBA teams can pay up to 500k towards a buyout to a team, and that's independent of the salary cap. The rest of the buyout has to be payed by the player. So if the chron says the deal is for more than $5 million over three years (and I would infer less than $6 million), that translates to about $1.7-$1.9 for starting salary. That's how much we use out of our MLE. Period.

That cannot be true - the guy must be talking out of his backside.

The max an NBA team can contribute towards contract buyout from a non-NBA team is ~$500k. Vspan/killbill's buyout is reportedly listed at ~$300K if he leaves this season - so he will only pay ~$300K to PAOC.

    Do not buy that junk.

Edit: Cableman beat me to the punch.
