Ok ...by rear window ...do you mean the one in the lift gate? By side window, do you mean the one in the r/f door?
you are looking at $250 for each I recommend www.safelite.com ....no one beats their prices in my experience
Nice... I tried these guys. They quoted me $440, and said they could do it on Tuesday. Then I got a bunch of runaround, and then they said they could do it in a WEEK for $840. No thanks. And I won't deal with them again. I loathe companies that promise one thing, and then deliver another.
Thats rare for them. They are known as being top notch in our industry with the best prices and excellent service. Most major insurance companies use them for glass work. Might try Apple Glass over on Antoine and 290. They are higher in price, but maybe their service is better. 713-680-1400
What I don't get is that I can tolerate a wait for an order, but what I can't stand is getting a completely incorrect quote. Why quote me a price for something you cannot find or get? Annoying!
what was their reason for the wrong quote? Based on my own database, the $440 sounds more correct than the $840
Their reasoning was that they couldn't find the parts locally, weren't willing to ship it in, and refused to buy used parts. I just finished talking to a manager over there, and while he was willing to put a used part in, he was not willing to have it warrantied. He's also looking into finding a part elsewhere. Anyone know of a place with tons of used glass? I'm having no luck.
Was anything stolen from your vehicle? Stereo, personal effects, lights, etc...? Might be something personal if nothing was stolen from my experience.
You are probably not going to find used glass for a Land Rover in Houston. (here are some places to call - Greg @ Absolutely Foreign 281-446-9200 - All Toyota - 713-699-3300 - Patke's Auto Parts, talk to Bobo 713-734-1621 (tell him Chris w/ ADA told you to call). I would not put used glass in. The odds of not breaking it when pulling it off the used vehicle, cleaning it up and putting it your vehicle is horrible (thats why they won't warranty it; most glass companies will flat out refuse to do this). Also, the odds of having wind leaks and noise is high with used glass.
OK, I got the manager to call me back. He found the part in Ohio. It will cost $76 for shipping, but the rest of the price will remain intact, so I'll end up paying $513. And it will take an extra three days. While this is OK, I still have a problem that it took me b****ing for them to find this, and also why the hell they quoted a price before knowing. And had they told me their issues in the beginning, I wouldn't have had to wait the extra three days. Bottom line: If you don't know, don't promise. It makes your company look idiotic. Especially when all it took was me b****ing to get the cost lowered $250.
Update: This was supposed to have been done last Saturday. I received no response during the weekend. I called Monday. I was told that the manager wasn't in and he'd give me a call later. I called three times today, because I can't get it done Thursday or Friday, and I prefer not to do this on the weekends. After 30 minutes, I finally get the manager who said he just got the parts in, and they could do it on Saturday. Needless to say, I talked his ear off for the next ten minutes about how this was not only the second time they had screwed me around, but now, I had to go to them because I had to pay for the shipping. I also asked exactly what shipping company he used that would take 4 days (over twice) the original time, and still expect to be paid the same shipping amount, especially because the shipping charges were being directly transferred to me. Bottom line, b****ing worked, a little. I got the price down from $840 to $513 for the first instance, and I got them to fix my windshield for free (it was also spiderwebbed during the vandalising) for the time problem. They are coming out Monday and Tuesday to fix both problems at my residence, also, instead of me having to go all the way over there, which they also said I had to do at first. Sometimes you have to complain to get what you want. BTW, codell, what kind of spiderwebs on windshields are irreparable? The one on mine has about 7 lines coming out of it over half my windshield.
Everyone has them from time to time. Moreso when you're me. But are most windshields fixable? I don't want them to come out only to say "Sorry, Charlie."
Chips had be filled, but are usually still visible. Spiderweb cracks? Don't think so. Im sure they can be filled but again, youll still see it. Filling chips and cracks just helps to prevent them from spreading.
Update. Well, they finally fixed the two pieces of glass yesterday. They forgot to take the shipping discount off, though. And the guy told me the windshield will have to be replaced, also. Ugh! That will be a while. I wonder if this could be related to my "Nice Guy" thread?
