As someone who takes the N/R EVERYDAY to work, let me tell you that I'd much rather drive past vacant strip malls in my plush, climate controlled automobile (with privacy, to boot!) than take the smelly, hot, disease-riddled subway. Oh, did I mention the part about the overcrowding and having to STAND? Good lord! Give me Houston's traffic problem anyday over public transportation in NYC...
First, please STOP arguing about NYC. Not only is it in the wrong forum, it is wasting space that could be dedicated to talking about this story. Second, "meeting with the press" is NOT a press conference. It just means that, at some point during the day and during his tour, he will be made available so the media can ask him questions. If this were a real press conference, they would say PRESS CONFERENCE. This is just a chance for the media to gauge his impressions, nothing more. It means absolutely doodley squat, so don't freak out. Paul Silas "met with the media" when he was here and his quotes showed up in the Chronicle. If the Rockets or Van Gundy want to hold a press conference, that is what it will be called. They are VERY specific about these things.
Oh well, I guess they will announce it tomorrow to Calvin Murphy, Bill Warrell, Clutch, Turbo, the Power Dancers, Rolling Rockets, and the 3 vagrants who sleep at Jones Plaza that Jeff Van Gundy is the new head coach.
what they dont let those kind of people sleep there anymore since they remodeled it? no, just kidding Jeff. Making light of the situation that had many of us listening to Rome and Warren Moon. I had a feeling this was gonna happen, but I can't blame CD. It's a catch 22. If he didn't proclaim Jeff as the front runner, that wouldn't have put pressure on Jeff and it would have made it look like we mayh not have wanted him. Now, it looks like he may have egg in his face. regardless, it is still a premier coaching job.

Agreed. But I am satisfied this part of the process is out of the way. This now allows the final part of negotiations to get underway if JVG so chooses.
