    Less turnovers=less fastbreaks=less points

Conservative defense not only lets dominant players beat you, but it hinders your offense also.

And this bbs would erupt because Steve didn't dish enough vids to JVG. Andre Miller shares his tapes around, you know. So selfish is Steve, wanting all the vids to himself. ;)

I have learned that the people who talk **** about Houston have either visited a remote part away from the action (Woodlands, Kingwood, Katy, etc) and think its too big, or have visited in August when its 98 degrees with 100% humidity. If we sectioned the city off and had cities around the town like Dallas, people would think differently. Its too spread out. If you live downtown/galleria area, your perception (like mine) is of a vibrant, culturally diverse, fun city to be in. Pro sports, music of all types, Top 5 restaurants in the Nation, Great bars of all types, FREINDLY people that are easy to talk to (unlike the import a-holes here in Austin who arent true Texans). I love Houston - in fact I really miss it, and for the people who hate it..... f%ck 'em.

FYI, ESPN just reported that Dunleavy was told JVG was #1, but if it fell through he would get the job. Dunleavy himself is the one who told ESPN.

So is VG fishing for a big welcoming party? Should we show up at the airport and show him some love? Do we have any boosters that could all chip in and rent him a date (or a power dancer)?

nykrule, Your starting to win me over about Gundy. At first I didnt think he would be good, but you have convinced me that the talent pool on those NY teams was in fact awful. I have NO idea what Gundy will do with Ming and Francis. But he said he liked Mobley,so that kinda worries me.I dont mind him being the coach,I just hope he isnt handed the GM duties also.Atleast Rice will be gone.:)

It wasn't an AWFUL talent pool, but he certainly made them overachieve bigtime. He implemented a game plan that helped all of the players use their skills the best that they possibly could as a team. That is all a coach can do for a team, and not a lot of coaches have the intelligence, ability, and drive to do so, but JVG sure does.

oKAY. Houston isn't beautiful sir. We know that. And it's freakin hot.

    But I'm used to it.

San Francisco and all of California is beautiful!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

New York.....well I don't like NYC....but yes....it's nice big most popular diverse happy city.

But HOUSTON. Is the best. WE HAVE THE FATTEST PEOPLE. Nice people. Very very diverse. It's just our city is so big that.....man.....so many sections. Houston is really huge.

And we are like the only major city.....where the people MAKE MORE ON AVERAGE THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.....and the COST OF LIVING is CHEAPER than the national average.

And it depends on what type of job you have. Like if you have a job in the chemical industry....well you ain't goin to San Francisco....if you are all computers and technology...then go to California!!!!!

    Houston....what I like is.....everything.

Houston - the land of strip malls and strippers. Lived in NYC/soho for sometime...time of my life.

    houston's unofficial motto should be:

"Houston, sh!tty place to visit, great place to live."

.....and i cant wait to get next season started and see what JVG can do for us (UPS commercial tone).

IMG, I am so sick of all those ISO offenses. Rudy got kicked out because he refused to change his ISO philosophy, why get a coach who is going to continue to use that same strategy?????!!!

well it depends on where you live. If you live in Manhattan then basically, your not driving. I know very few people who own cars in NYC. You use public transportation. One of NYC's greatest assets is its public transportation. This is all you need. If you plan to go somewhere out of the city for vacation, fly or rent a car.

Houston on the other hand is the definition of urban sprawl. I mean how many more 6 lane freeways do you need until you realize this isn't the solution. Thankfully the city gov seems to be moving the right direction with metrorail. Also, I like what their doing in downtown with the night scene...ect.

Anyways, I'm glad that Van Gundy is comming. Hopefully it'll give the Rockets organization and the city the kick in the ass it needs.

I hope so too.. The thing about all these people saying stuff like: "all he runs is iso, his teams don't play well offensively", etc.. How do we know??? He's coached one team, and they didn't have the level of offensive talent we have. He could run a totally different system, or it could be the same (I hope not). the bottom line is, we just don't know yet, so I must agree with JayZ and what he says here. And so should all the other fans.

    Couldn't agree more.

I just had to laugh last year when everyone was saying "Yao will hate Houston, there's no asian population" as I drove down Bellaire looking at the street signs in English and Chinese.

I live in New York now and I like it a lot, but I definitely miss plenty about Houston.

there is no traffic problem for me in New York. I wouldn't even think of owning a car. Funny, I lived in Houston (and Austin) my whole life, and I thought I couldn't live without a car, but I don't even miss it.

by the way- sorry about the multiple posts in a row, everyone, the thread took me a while to get through. you can see that I don't normally machinegun post like this, judging by my post count vs my "member since" date.
