Who cares if JVG likes Night life or not? As long as he's a good coach, and a coach's job to make teams better. If we're a better team next season and we are winning consistently. I'm all for JVG as coach.
I second that! I am glad we got him, but MAN!! its going to be hard to look at his hair on a daily basis
Im not bald, but if I was Gumby,I would shave the whole head clean for a cleaner look. That hair plug look is awful
If he accepts the job and we start winning. All of us will want to kiss his bald head. I am excited to have this almost completed.
OUCH!!! Van Gundy is going to have a tour of Houston So Gundy has to like the city of Houston first... Thats going to be difficult...
Why? The weather is pretty good and the home prices are relatively low compared to other parts of the country. The only prob is it's not exactly a cultural center and the night life is a bit tame.
I do. Honestly, if there was a thread about that I totally missed it. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a link.
currently steve is better than yao but i see yao improving more than steve has. Yao is a smarter player
JuanValdez. that's not cool. why do you want to go and bust mingonly on his bluff? everyone knows that thread did not exist, nor did that quote. but noooooo, you have to call his bluff. tsk, tsk.
I lived there 22 yrs. It's better than NJ snow storms. Houston's weather is easy to get used to. And actually yesterday's temp was 102 according to my "sources"
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58335 he didnt say "dead town" like i thought he said, but he didnt seem to like the town all that much. verse, okay whatever you say man
mingonly, from that interview you interpreted jeff van gundy as saying that "houston is a dead town"??? um, ok. if you've been to new york, i'm sure you understand that it is a completely different type of city. no other city in america is like new york. that does not mean that houston is dull or a "dead town" as you inappropriately quoted van gundy of saying. as Almu said later in his original post, NYC is electric. there's a certain "happening" about NYC because it truly is a mecca for everything. but that doesn't mean that houston (or miami, los angeles or atlanta for that matter) are "dead towns". i don' t mean to be ultra-abrasive. i just hate when people spread rumors off of misinformation...especially when the transcript is there to be referenced.
even though i agree with your general premise that jvg is a good coach, a few things: it did break the record, but it was not that long. from the knicks website: "The Knicks held their opposition under 100 points in post-shot clock NBA record 33 consecutive games, from November 11 - January 21." and now for people who don't think he'll utilize yao. Y'ALL ARE MORONS!!! everyone thinks yao is gonna be great and that he should be the center of the offense eventually. jvg is no different. now for people who think yao should've run it last year. Y'ALL ARE MORONS!!! he played 30 minutes a game, got tired doing that, and he WASN"T running the offense. how freaking worn out would he have been if he had been. a lot more. rudy paced him and worked him in as best he could w/o wearing him out. people act like rudy is averse to letting dominant big men run the show as if he's never done it before. the problem is ming was not dominant. the advantage he had on his man was rarely more than the advantage steve had on his man and a significant portion of the time probably less than the advantage cat had. people seem to think cat and steve are two offensively inept players who just happened to run the offense b/c no one else was here before and that yao was just schooling everyone but we wouldn't give it to him. after he was at his best (december) he hit the rookie wall and never showed the same freshness or ability to run the offense again really. he hit the wall, seemed fatigued often after that, and seemed downright worn out at the end of the season. i don't want that guy running the offense. i may want that guy running the offense in 2 years when he's bulked up and has more stamina, but i don't want him running it now. so many analysts just couldn't believe we didn't run the O with yao, and yet if they had been the coach of the rockets, they would've done damn near the same thing, or they would've lost even more than we did. in summation, stop acting like rudy completely ignored yao, and for the love of god stop acting like he was always going to make yao a 13 ppg scorer no matter how much he improved. yao will improve, and then yao will be given the offense. not the reverse. thank you for your time.
Actually, Houston is one of the most culturally diverse cities and if you live in or near downtown (which is steadily improving), the night life is pretty good. Isn't Houston known for having a lot of really great restaurants? I'm so sick of hearing people talk smack about Houston, maybe it's just a Texan or southern thing, but I love Houston.
