In the post game press conference on NBATV, JVG just said Yao's hasn't been putting in any effort on D or the boards the last 3 games. Personally, it makes me sick to hear him take a shot on Yao right now. He's playing better than he ever has, literally carrying the team on his shoulders. We actually got back in the game when someone other than Yao was able to knock down a wide open shot. There's a lot wrong with this team right now. Yao is certainly not the problem.
If Van Gundy keeps putting the blame on Yao One of these days Yao's gonna go off, and ask to be traded
THats NOTHING!! JVG just said he wanted to trade yao for KAMAN! AND just now he said Yao was possibly a terrorist! S (not J)
Yao had 10 rebounds in the first half...he had 2 in the 2nd half. I think JVG needs to look in the mirror, he could have put Hayes in earlier. JVG only says these things because he knows Yao will not pull a Starbury on his butt. DD
Is it possible that one reason why Yao is playing so well offensively is because he is exerting less energy than usual on defense? I haven't been watching the games, but I've noticed Yao has barely been in foul trouble recently
if this is indeed true, then i've had it with van gundy. Its one thing to lose but I can deal with that but to throw your best player who's having a career year under the bus just because he's so passive is a joke.
Obviously Yao's not playing defense as hard as before. He was trying to stay out of foul trouble and stay on the court. Otherwise, no one in the Rockets uniform will able to score while Yao's sitting on the bench. Anyway, the rockets was shot to death by the oppenent's perimeter 3s lately, not by some kind of penetrations.
Did he actually use the words: "not putting in any effort" ? Yao has problems defensively; anyone who watches the games can see it. Part of it is just lack of athleticism and timing, but another part of it is defensive awareness. Anyways, Van Gundy is clearly going to keep pushing Yao to be a dominant on both ends. He wants Yao to be an all-around great player -- what's wrong with that? I really don't have a problem with it, and I don't think Yao does either. I just wish Van Gundy directed those high standards to Juwan and Stromile more often.
well i dont know what exactly he said, or how the tone he said it in.. but i dont see anything wrong with the coach not COMPLETELY satisfied with how his players played the game, especially if they didnt pull out with the W.. id rather have that than a JVG and a yao ming grinning from ear to ear like they dont give a ****... but yeah like i said, i didnt hear the clip.
hummm...I dunno, he might have a point. I think Yaos been using his energy for scoring. Honestly though Jeff, without TMac we need Yao's offense a helluva lot more than another rebound or two. Give it a rest.
