VG doesn't trust younger players as much as older players. he will almost in all cases give the guy with more experience first before the one with lesser experience. Bonzi has proven something in the past, snyder not as much. for better or worse that is what it is

I agree with that. The last few times I have seen Novak, his defense has actually been worse than at the beginnning of the season or preseason.

Completely untrue if you look at the injury reports, he had a viral infection after he recovered from the wrist injury and then had to get back in shape from that, after that long Van Gundy was going to ease him back into the rotation until Wells went down last week, notice how much Snyder you have seen lately. (40 minutes in the last 2 games) I expect to see a large does of Snyder now. (could even be showcasing since we have been winning without him)

JVG made a very good point a couple of weeks ago. In this league, Wins are the only thing that keeps coaches their jobs. He will put the best team on the floor to win in any given situation to get a win. He is not going to play a bunch of rookies and risk wins and losing his job.

I'm fine with an 8 man rotation. BUT, I would not mind seeing something different every now and then, based on our matchups. Just keep the bench a lil sharp etc. and see if we can exploit something.....

Nice research. I was curious about that. However, all the guys on that list are superior to Padgett, Novak, VSpan and Lucas. Also, on your last two, Flip Murray is not a regular in the Pistons rotation and Kurt Thomas has been hurt as well.

One of the very few dislikes I have about my lova Gundy is that he needs to CHIIIIIIIIILLL just a wee bit sometimes.

I kinda do wish that he would play at least Novak because the guy can shoot. I know he sucks at defense and all that but personally, I think he can just stand around and shoot at the very least.

V-Span sucketh. And if he sucketh, what does that make John Lucas? :D

Spanoulis and Novak don't contribute much. V-Span lends the occassional turnover every other possession, and Novak makes 1-2 3s but fails defensively.

JL3 would make great trade bait. A run-and-gun team would love to have him, and he's just not gonna succeed as a Rocket. This is completely the wrong system for him.

For some reason, JVG refuses to play Padgett. Although, in the games he's played, Padgett has shown improved rebounding, plus he's a big who can stretch the floor. I think he'll be valuable come playoff time.

I agree with JVG's 8-man rotation. Hayes doesn't do much either. He's a severe offensive liability and for every two rebounds, he gets one foul. Es no bueno.

So I agree with Wells, Head, Snyder and Deke (once Yao gets healthy) being our bench rotation. They're pretty much the only consistent players we have off the pine.

Snyder has to compete with the following guys for PT:

    Tracy McGrady
    Shane Battier
    Bonzi Wells
    Luther Head

Does anybody here think he's the superior player for the Rockets than any of those guys?

I dont think its that big of an issue that he plays 8 guys considering he'll give the 3 guys coming off the bench about 25 minutes each, if not more, every game.

And hey, if we are winning, we shouldn't be complaining. What would you say if we were playing Vspan and Novak and we were losing? You would probably blame JVG for bad offense or something and not because he's not playing his best players every game.

Um...no. But we gonna get a big ole scoop of it up here! I can mail you some! :)

By the way, I know he and I have a great loving relationship. He is a great lova! But I already said if I don't see a nice 6 game, hard fought, 2nd round playoff performance from the team, he gots to go. Injuries or not.

I would hate it. But thats 4 years. I already made a mistake supporting someone else who after their 4yr term should of left also!!!

    :p

Folks, let's not forget the fact that injuries have played a MAJOR role in Van Gundy's allotment of minutes the past two seasons. You can't give minutes to people who aren't playing.

Regardless of all that, I'd like to point out that there are currently 10 players averaging 15+ minutes a game for the Rockets:

    Battier - 36.9
    Alston - 36.6
    McGrady - 35.3
    Yao - 34.6
    Head - 28.7
    Howard - 27.1
    Hayes - 21.0
    Wells - 20.5
    Mutumbo - 17.9
    Snyder - 15.0

Those numbers are higher because of the injuries, but this list shows you that Van Gundy's willing (forced?) to give significant minutes to virtually everyone capable of playing them at an NBA pace.

Plus, you gotta love the fact that the big 2 are only getting ~35mpg this year. Does anybody remember the amount of minutes Rudy used to give his best two players when their names were Steve and Cuttino?

I'd say JVG's doing a great job spreading it around, all things considered.

Please stop, JVG made the Rockets winners again. He gave us 3 winning seasons out of 4 while we were a top defensive team in the NBA. That is a damn good 4 years if you ask me. Sure we didn't win a 'ship or even get out the first round, but to be fair, we didn't have a championship caliber team until this season. There is no coach available out there that is better for us than JVG. The only guy I would be willing to bring in besides JVG, would be Rudy T.

JVG will play anyone who can help his team to win.
Geez...I mean..he even started R.bown in the playoff against Mavs,
so please stop this nonsense that he doesn't play players.

JVG will play you, as long as you can prove that you are better than the players are on the court.
