"Van Gundy said that after the Mavericks' 97-93 victory Saturday in Game 2, which tied their playoff series at two games each, he received an unsolicited call from a friend who is a league referee not working the playoffs. The referee, Van Gundy said, told him that referees "were looking at Yao harder because of Mark's complaints."

A long time referee friend eh!? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard because we all know it's BS but its good Sh*t that the media will eat up and the refs and NBA can't ignore. Van Gundy I knew you would do something good but you have far exceeded my expectations. Brilliant! BriLLLLIANT!!!!

JVG has to call them out - Yao had 3 offensive fouls (on guys that couldn't defend his jock)

if Yao doesn't get those whistles, he plays 35 minutes

If he plays 35 minutes, he drops 30 on them

if he scores 30 the Rockets win !

    get em Jeff !

.... I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore !

LOL, you kidding me?? I can almost picture the smirk on his face as the light bulb went off in his head. "call from a friend who is a league referee not working the playoffs." That is hilarious! Even for just comic relief, I love this guy.

And there's no way that anybody can confirm this... because the fact that they'd go out of their way to confirm it will just make them look even sillier.

Could you imagine Cuban's retort to this tommorow being, "I talked to everybody in the league office... and I couldn't figure out who is friend is... I think he was lying... he has no friend.... but, uh, yea, I still sent in the complaints about Yao."

The Sixth Man award should go to......

    the referees.

At least, Cuban should give out this award.

I'm getting pretty tired of the refs too, for once in our lifetime we have a 7'6 freak of nature who is actually good and his height or whatever it is instead works in his detriment. Why won't the league just let this kid succeed?

Right Cuban...what about the refs will call two quick fouls on Dirk in the remaining games and we will let Vin Baker have two quick fouls too to make it even. Deal?

I had assumed that the NBA had insinuated to their refs before this season that they should slacken up on the moving screens calls, proof being the entirely unexpected play of the Seattle Sonics and Phoenix Suns. Both those teams would be crippled offensively to some extent if moving screens were strictly called for them. I'm hoping the JVG's comments will get things in this series more to the status quo of the regular season, if not better, for the Rockets.

Not included in the original post was the Rockets Summary at the end of the article. This is a quote from it:
"Through the first four games, the Mavericks have made more free throws (106-of-132) than the Rockets (64-of-89) have attempted."
GOSH THAT PISSES ME OFF TO NO END!

According to this article from today's Sports Weekly, last Tuesday Rockets received a warning from NBA's Competition Committee saying that Yao and T-mac was expected to show some restraint in doing their Pick and Roll or Yao will seriously see some offensive fouls call coming.

The article also said THAT warning forced JVG to make some adjustments to his game plan in game 3 and 4.

It seems Rockets played game 3 and 4 literally with one hand tied behind their back.

Let's see what they can do in game 5.

Cuban denied them? No way! Cuban wanted to get Yao badly, but he wasn't able to. His "Finley for Yao" trade proposal was shut down by the Rockets. Since there wasn't anyway to get Yao, Cuban started badmouthing him publicly. It's more sourgrape than anything else. Right now, he would dream to have Yao Ming on his team if he can. He simply can't.

You can't telll me that the whole thing isn't orchestrated to get 6 or 7 games out of this series. It would appear that the fix IS in,but I think the shackles will come off when they need too.Ratings are king, with 2-2,Cuban,Van Gundy,McGrady...Like in game7 against the Knicks in 94,when the hand checks were finally called,we'll take it.
Way to go JVG.This is total BS.How about us being tired towards the end of the playoffs?Tracy and Yao will probably step up,but Good God Almighty! This has got to stop..You go Jeff.
    JVG convert
